Fullen waited until the workers had left before slowly standing upright again and turning slightly."When it comes to the threat of death, we are all selfish." he muttered bitterly, still not looking at her."My boss told me to do this, or be fired. If they fire me before I am old enough to retire, they will have me killed to avoid me giving out any government secrets." he said, sitting down in a chair and leaning over to rest his elbows on his knees and his face in his hands. It was obvious he was stressed and ashamed... He sighed--exhausted."I'm not going to let you die, however. I dont believe you deserve it." he mumbled, knowing she could hear him.
