Eve sighed with relief as she saw Riley climb onto the branch. She put her arrow away and grasped her bow tightly. Her face turned red and she looked down.
"Uh... I..." Eve looked around, making sure there was no one else spying on them. She took a shaky breath, wondering if she should tell Riley. If he suddenly turned out to be an enemy, he could easily use her weaknesses to kill her. Finally, Eve decided to tell him. If she didn't win, she wanted him to win, anyways.
"The dark scares me." She murmured, leaning a tiny bit closer so that only his ears could hear. "I've been scared of it since I was little. I can overcome it sometimes... but my grandfather was murmured one night, and it scared me forever." She settled back against the tree and closed her eyes, listening to the comforting hum of the birds.
