"Really? Well-" he cut off abruptly when he saw that Jax was still there. He cursed under his breath,
"Crap. You probably heard every word of that, didn't you?" he said.
Idiot. You should've waited until he was gone! he thought angrily at himself.

Jax smirked under his hood. "Of course I heard. But I helped save your lives. So I guess knowing is kind of important, huh?" He pointed out, shrugging. He slung his bow over his chest and watched the two of them in silence for a few moments before speaking again. "I've never met Avatars." His voice was quiet, as his hand touched the pouch of sand tied to his waist.

Chao sighed,
"Ok. You caught me. And her too I guess," he said. He narrowed his eyes,
"Wait. You're from the Fire Nation. How come you're not trying to kill us?" he asked. Seemed like everyone from the Fire Nation was after them these days. He'd have to be a lot more cautious now.

Jax laughed, and drew back his head, his dark colored eyes sparkling with amusement. "Just because I'm from the Fire nation doesn't mean I'm apart of their master plan, or even a fire bender. Nope. Not at all." He chuckled softly, shrugging. "But I guess, if you're running scared from a nation trying to kill you, I guess it's pretty important to avoide all who look like an enemy." He said, more subdued and serious again.

Chao nodded,
"Yeah. It's hard travelling when everyone in red wants to kill you," he said. He paused, "So...wait...are you implying that you're not a firebender? That's...odd."

"No. I'm not a Fire Bender. But I was born in the Fire Nation." Jax said, shrugging again. He beat around the bush, trying hard not to say what he bended. He didn't like saying it....since it brought up painful memories.

"No. I'm a bender." Jax said, sighing deeply. Just get over with it and tell him. He thought bitterly. "I'm a Sand bender. I have no idea how it got into my Fire Bending family, but somehow it did. I guess a great uncle was a sand bender or something. Anyways, I pretty much got disowned after my mother died, and I've been here. Traveling." Jax replied, touching the pouch at his belt self consciencely.

He bit the inside of his lip but his serious expression didn't change.

Zoroa was silent during all of this. Quietly thinking over the facts they were spewing out in their conversattion. Not all fire dudes were bad. The other guy was an avatar to. she shrugged to herself and ate a piece of meat from her backpack.
