"Who the hell is he anyway?
He never really talks much,
Never concerned with status but still leavin' 'em starstruck,
Humbled through opportunities given despite the fact,
That many misjudge him because he makes a living from writing raps.
Put it together himself, now the picture connects.
Never asking for someone's help,
Or to get some respect
He's only focused on what he wrote,
His will is beyond reach
And now it all unfolds, the skill of an artist.
....
This is ten percent luck,
Twenty percent skill,
Fifteen percent concentrated power of will,
Five percent pleasure,
Fifty percent pain,
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name."Name/Nickname: Chao Zhang
What kind of Bender: Water, but can master the rest as well
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Personality: Chao is kind and loyal, but he's kind of quiet. He's a deep thinker and he spends more time in his mind than most people. People ridicule him and say he's "spacy" and "unfocused." That turns completely around in a fight. He's there 100% and doesn't let anything distract him. He's fierce and unrelenting, but adaptable and agile. He doesn't say much but he never wastes his words on idle chatter. He can be impatient sometimes. He tries to lighten up when the situation calls for it, but he's just not one of those happy go lucky people. He's understanding and has the wisdom that Avatars are supposed to have, but he never gives advice that isn't asked for.
History: Chao's story starts when he was 12. The Fire Nation attacked the Northern Water Tribe trying to find him since he was the Avatar. The plan was just to kill everyone since they didn't know what Chao looked like. Chao's father was killed at the seige before the Fire Nation even broke thought. Chao was protecting the area of the city where his family lived, trying to help the other benders as much as he could. When Fire Nation troops showed up Chao tried to fend them off, but his bending wasn't powerful enough to stop all of them. A soldier burned his shoulder and nearly killed him. But at that moment his mother stepped in and was able to fend them off long enough for Chao to escape. She was killed in the process.
The Water Tribe was able to repel the attack in the end, but not without heavy losses. Chao was left with a scar on his shoulder and no parents. Friends of his family took him in and he lived with them until he was 16. It was when he turned 16 that he realized that he couldn't stay here forever. He had a job to do. He set out to find someone to teach him the other elements as well as find the other Avatars.
He's still plagued with nightmares of his parent's death. His mother's death is always the same, but because he didn't see his father die that nightmare is always different with his father dying in a different way every time. He doesn't get much sleep and nights without troubling dreams are rare.

Markings/Tattoos: He's got a burn scar on his right shoulder that goes down his shoulder blade and stops about midway down his back and where his spine divides his back length-wise. The scar stops at his collar bone on his front and goes down his upper arm where it stops about midway. The scarred part of his arm is visible when he has his shirt on but the rest isn't.
