He heard Clare nearly screech his name and he winced, putting a hand to his head, not quite ready for the anger and yelling when she started. “It was your idea.” he stated. “Besides! Why let our shy friend fall in the dark alone.” he said, the instantly getting a hand slapped in his face, Kenton stumbled a little, heart jumping in his chest. He had not expected that, and he wasn’t sure what just hit him until she said sorry. Oh thank god! It wasn’t some undead mummy trying to eat his brains…
“Oh I’m perfectly fine.” That was a white lie, to be honest, but it was dark and there was no need to cause panic, right? He shifted his jacket over his shoulders, pressing it to his side protectively. “A little tussled and dizzy, but good!” you could just hear the cheer and light-heartedness in his voice, as if he had not just noticed they were stuck in the unknown void of darkness. He heard her scuffling in her bag for something to give off light, which was a good idea. But if she happened to find a good light, he might be thwacked for lying to her.
“Wait… MY IPOD!?” He turned around, trying to see in the darkness. “I paid for so many songs for that thing!” He dropped to his knees, searching the ground regretfully, rustling around for it. It had to be here somewhere, right? It could not have fallen far from him, at least he hoped not, or else he might never find that thing again. His thoughts were both on the source of light, controlled by him of course, and his david bowie songs. Regretfully, his hands searched over the so-called ‘rocks’, holding back the nauseas feeling as he scooted aside each obstacle.
“Sweet mercy!” He pulled it up from the ground, thumb sliding over the screen, trying to get the dirt and fluid off it as he pressed the button. The dim light came on, but it was only enough to illuminate his facial features. There was a little bit of red in his white hair and specks of red here and there, as well as dirt from the floor, smudged on his skin. The earbuds were gone, and he only had the player. On the screen was tinted dark red, smeared over the normally blue light and giving a mixed hue of light.
“Shoot, the earphones aren’t here.” Kenton huffed, as if he totally didn’t notice the blood, he was trying not to honestly. His eyes straying to the dark floor, wondering if he really wanted to shine the light on what he had been searching through, and he really did not… So he stood up and faced the red tainted device out to the darkness, trying to find the familiar face. Quickly finding Clare. “There you are!” he moved over. She looked a little roughed up, and he wondered if he looked just as bad or worse, hopefully not worse. “I feel a little under prepared if you have a whole bag of useful items with you.” he noted, shining the dull light on her bag to help her search for what she was looking for.
