Mable blushed a little bit when she heard his explanation. She had no idea what made her think he meant he was going to volunteer for her. Mable closed her eyes as the man from the Capital talked on stage. They played the usual video and then it came time for the names to be drawn. She listened as he said first the girls and when he announced her name Mable froze. All of the color drained from her face and the crowd moved aside so she could walk. She could not hear anything as she walked toward the stage. The man shook her hand wishing her the best of luck then turned to call the boys name.

Cody froze as he watched take each step to the stage. He was confused. Scared. Mad. He pushed his way through the crowd. "I VOLUNTEER . I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE...." He yelled as he stood at the middle of the crows his hand raised. The man looked to him equally confused but waved for him to come up. Cody nodded and went up the stairs and stood beside Mable a slight smile on his face as he winked to her. His body was shaking but he stood tall....kinda....and nodded at the man as he congratulated him.

Luna stood as the brightly dressed woman poked her hand into the large glass bowl. Then she reAd out "Irise?"

Mable watched as Cody screamed out he volunteered and could not help but feel bad. Now they would both be going but only one could come back. He said he was going to protect her, but she would have to protect him too. He came up to the stage, just like he said he would and gave her a small smile. Mable saw him shaking and it matched her own. Without thinking Mable reached toward his hand, after all they were in this together now.

Cody smiled and took her hand. "I promise to protect you till the end. I promise......" He whispered. He looked up just as the man came and started to push them into the small rooms where they had a few moments to see there family.
