Blake looked back at Karen. 'I say we grabbed some stuff and book it.' He said, thinking more. 'If the Career's are all allied up, we cannot fight them all. We need to hope they pick each other off eventually. I think hiding and hunting is our best bet.'

.:Karen:.

I nodded slightly, carefully watching him. "So...get a backpack or two and run?" I stared into his eyes for a moment before glancing away, towards the wall, while still listening to what he was saying.

~ Yveri Thayer ~ District 8 Mentor ~ To Thera ~

Yveri's face split into a grin at the girl's retort; attitude was a good thing, in the arena, and if she acted like this spicy fireball in her interview, the sponsors were sure to love her! Yveri was hardly insulted, of course the girl could have thought she had forgotten her, she hadn't talked to her much, of course, and besides, living through the arena gave people a different view of life. No one had been able to insult Yveri since her victory. However, Yveri did need to make it clear to Thera that she did in fact need Yveri and therefore she ought to be a bit respectful, at least in public.

Quickly, Yveri stepped back and looked up and down, surveying her outfit critically. As promised, the stylist had done a good job. Thera was certainly beautiful, and the crowd would notice in this dress. She smiled. "Well, your outfit is perfect. You look stunning. Thera, I understand you don't need my help--you are a very confident young woman--but understand, you will appear even more of a threat and more appealing to sponsors if it appears that not only are you beautiful, confident, and talented, but work well with others--that you would be grateful to the sponsors for helping you--and first and foremost that is me. You certainly don't need to like me, but when we are in public you should try to at least act like we get along. You may not need many sponsors, but in the arena, one tiny loaf of bread can save your life." She paused. "You certainly do seem to know what you are doing--sexy and confident is a very good angle. It makes you very appealing. But try to tone down the anti-social bit just a little," she added in a quiet, conspiratorial tone. "Sexy and confident doesn't do much good if you hold people at arms' length, unfortunately."

{X'D 'a loaf of beard' lol! }

Thera
{ >>District 8, Tribute<< }

Although she didn't want to hear it, Thera knew it was true. She could be the most beautiful, skilled person in the world, but wouldn't get a crumb if she acted like a b*tch all the time. She sighed, slowly uncrossing her arms. "Unfortunatey, you may be right." she said through clenched teeth. She regarded Yveri through slightly narrowed eyes, figuring she must know what she'd doing, at least somewhat. "I want to do this myself. as me. I won't owe them any debts. I won't." Her voice was melodic, but venemous, and her eyes glittered like poisoned emeralds.

((XD It was the first thing to pop into my head!))

~ Yveri Thayer ~ District 8 Mentor ~ To Thera ~

Yveri did not let it show on her face, but she felt satisfaction when Thera begrudgingly agreed with her, enough though the look she threw her made Yveri lean back just a bit. A tiny, tiny battle, but she had won. Kind of. She gave the younger girl a small nod of acknowledgement, which turned into a series of understanding nods as the girl continued talking. "I know that feeling," she said, ah-ha, here was the worried tribute who resented being away from home. She had suspected it was in Thera somewhere. "That's good. You can convey that with your sexy-and-confident angle. That you can take care of yourself and take anything that anyone throws at you. Make them feel privileged to help you, like it's a great honor. Then they'll be in your debt. You're very strong, Thera," Yveri said; she had seen it in the girl a few moments ago. "That will be attractive to sponsors, and the audience in general. I can't tell you exactly what to say, but the advice I would give is just to say the first thing that comes to mind, because that's the answer that reflects your personality the most, and the audience wants to see unique tributes, not," and she glanced in the direction of the District 1 tributes, "the conventional, expected, same-old same-old. There are advantages to being single, you know," she added even more quietly. "You can make all of the men think that they might just have a chance with such a strong, pretty girl. 'Star-crossed lovers' might get some sympathetic sponsors, but you will have the chance to appeal to a completely different audience." She gave her a slight wink.

{ Right, but you meant bread, right? You typed beard, and now I have the giggles. XD }

Thera
{ >>District 8, Tribute<< }

As Thera listened, some of the venom vanished from her eyes, knocking the intenisty from 'enough to kill a wild buffalo' down to 'that just might kill a cat'. Somehow, this girl was saying enough to get through her thick, confident skull, and it was beginning to sink in. "I.. can work with that.." she said slowly after a moment, her voice and body language still appearing skeptical, but her mind was now reeling with the possiblities.
"So, what you're saying is, make them want me? Play hard to get? Yeah, I can do that. I can get them to eat out of my hand." she said, becoming more sure of this with each word. A sly smile crept to her lips, and she looked at Yveri straight on, thankful for the advice, but not about to admit it. This woman had shaped her from a selfish, over-confident girl who could be easily forgotten to a hard-to-get, sexily confident, stand-out player(in her opinion, anyway.) with just a few words.

Though she'd never, ever admit it.

((*facepalm* Beard. Bread. What's the difference?? XD Yes, I meant bread. Was typing too fast, I guess. Missed it when you first pointed it out too. I fixed it now. Glad you got a laugh, though! You're welcome.))

~ Yveri Thayer ~ District 8 Mentor ~ To Thera ~

Yveri could tell she was indeed making the other girl understand, and she was relieved, for the other's sake, not her own. Pride was a good thing, but sometimes it could get in the way. She was suddenly very hopeful of having a winning tribute this year. If Thera could pull off her part here at the interviews, she would have lots of ammunition to work with to get sponsors. She nodded as the tribute talked and gave her a smile. She didn't want to break the attitude and power that Thera had--she doubted she could anyway--she just wanted to redirect it, and it seemed like she was being successful. It seemed that perhaps she had proven useful to the tribute as well, and while she highly doubted Thera was the kind to call people 'friends' she supposed that at least it would lead to more unity. "Yes, that's good, Thera! Very good. The audience loves a fighter, someone pretty and talented who they can cheer for from the start and not get disappointed when they lose. You will be a memorable face," she finished confidently.

Hoothead wrote:Adrian grimaced at their mentor though not exactly surprised to see him. "You know what the hell is your problem?!" Adrian's eyes blazed. "Your such a b@stard and I don't even know why! I never did anything to p!ss you off until now and you were just always a complete @ss." He frowned. "You know I don't give a flying crap whether you train me. You know why? I'm going to die out there. I have a whole life to live in these next few days. Why the hell can't you just give me one minute of happiness?!" He stared at him eyes ablaze, face flushed, demanding an answer
(( merv... not what I wanted... oh well))

Cecil just kept glaring at Adrian, smart enough to not make him any angrier by saying aloud what the main reason for getting on their case was. "Because it's hard to be nice to someone you thought was your friend." He checked to make sure his dagger was strapped to his belt before leaving the room without another word. Maybe if they had told him beforehand, it wouldn't have been this bad. He could tell them to keep the lovers thing a secret so they wouldn't be targets. And not just targets for other tributes. Targets of the Capitol.
Cecil was actually being honest with Adrian before he left the room, closing the door quietly. He had considered his tributes as friends; they were different and he liked that. Yet they broke his trust. Now there was a greater possibility for them to get killed. I thought we really had a chance this year. Plus another pair of tributes to add to my nightmares.

Jordan pulled away at the sound of Grants voice. "She was-" his voice was suddenly cut short, unsure what to say, "Helping me clean myself up for the interviews." he managed to get out. He looked up at Grant, but not in the eye. He knew how Grant would be right now, the way Jossy was usually when she was around himself. And the difference between her attitude around the both. He didn't dare look back to Josslyn. Idiot. Now you can never make eye contact or look at her again. he told himself. And it was true, if he did, all it would do is make life harder on her.

(Aven is right, Zelda. Sorry.)

Josslyn noticed how stupid Jordan's excuse was. Why would he be kissing her while she cleaned his wounds? Her gaze flickered down to her feet, frowning. Grant would understand. He had to. He knew she didn't like Sparkles...

(As for Hershi and Grace, I'm assuming they are currently waiting for their turn to be interviewed. Braden and Isla are doing that also.)
