Oliver is the type of guy who is proud of his history. As soon as he discovered vampires were real he had to have that life. He agreed to work for a vampire in return would receive immortality. When he got immortality he became insane, lapping up the blood all the time. He slowly calmed down and started to practice better hunting techniques.
