Jasper frowned when he read that Kai could no longer speak, but another part of him wanted to scream with joy. He sighed under his breath and then nodded slowly, answering both of Kai's questions. "Yeah..." Jasper said softly in a murmur, shuffling his front right paw bashfully as he thought of Melanie.

She grinned, and mouthed, "Good." She showed him a bit of her sign language, saying this is sign language.
Me and Jace are using sign language now.
It comes quite easily. I just spell the words, and he read what I'm signing.
Are you coming back? Or are you staying here?
Her questions were direct, no pausing.

Jasper watched Kai's hands move furiously as they spelled out her message, but he couldn't understand a single word she showed him. He smiled warmly and then nodded slowly, wondering what Kai had asked him.

(Agh! My nose is dripping with blood! *blood splatters all over keyboard* Agh!)

(WH-WHY??)

She grinned, unable to laugh, and pointed to,
"Are you coming with us?"
Again.

(I don't know... All I know is that my head started to hurt and then a few moments later there's blood dripping all over my clothes... Yuck...)

Jasper read the message again and then his eyes softened, shrugging his shoulders slightly. "I don't know, kid..." he said softly and then gazed up into Kai's eyes. "I've become like a third wheel around you guys..." Jasper said and then laid down, placing his head on his miniature paws.

She frowned, and nodded, writing down, "If you change your mind... we're at the closest hotel." She turned to go, bundled up in her winter clothes.

Jasper watched Kai until she slipped out of his view, his eyelids slowly flickering to a close. He wondered where Melanie could have gone and then curled up into a taut ball, resting his head on his fluffy tail.

Melanie entered when Kai left with a yawn, glancing over at him, groceries in her arms as she lugged them over to a fridge. She gave him a grin and walked back over, flopping onto the hammock. "Hey, Sleepy- Whatcha doin?" She asked, picking him up, and laying him on her chest, looking into his eyes with a grin.

Jasper's eyes widened, startled when Melanie lifted him onto her chest. He gazed deeply into Melanie's eyes and then let out a soft sigh under his breath, snaking his head up to Melanie's neck. Jasper rubbed his head against Melanie's neck affectionately, purring softly under his breath.

She smiled and laughed. "Sorry- I don't think I can purr... You're really soft, ya know that, right?" She grinned, stroking his fur happily.
