Kaurarg ignored their question for a moment but he knew they wouldn't leave him alone until he answered. He folded his wings and dived downwards towards the ground, just catching himself before he crashed. He tucked his wings away when he landed and glared at the rider who had been foolish enough to follow him when he was already irritated. He shieled his mind to protect his thoughts and raked his claws across the ground. Smoke slowly rose from his nostrils and the whites of his claws and teeth shone in the moonlight.
Are you crazy! A frantic voice in the back of his mind exclaimed.
Kaurarg shook his head. His sudden landing had once again drawn him and Zain close enough to keep a mind link and the scene flashed between them.
Do you want me to tell them that you're hiding in your room like a girl? Kaurarg retorted.
To the dragon's relief he got no instant reply from his rider.
You do realise you're being followed by girls right? Zain asked meekly.
Kaurarg snorted and started to walk off into the closure of the forest, out of sight from anything in the air.
You know what you're problem is? You're just crabby. Zain muttered.
My tongue is as sharp as my claws, yes I know but how do you think I keep myself alive when my claws don't work? You're not exactly helpful. Kaurarg growled.
I am, theoretically helpful Zain argued.
Kaurarg laughed quietly. Well when things start to theoretically kill us, won't you just be the hero.
You're sacasm is not needed. Now can you keep yourself out of trouble long enough for me to sleep? Zain asked.
Kaurarg was flashed an image of a completely dark room. The only thing he could make out was the shining tip of a blade and the handles on a wardrobe.
Atra du evarinya ono varda Kaurarg muttered before he blocked his rider from him, leaving his mind to be his own.
His dragon's words sent a shiver down his spine, as did anything in the ancient language but because it came from the one thing that had ever truly scared Zain meant it came with fear. He tumbled out of bed and reached for the candle he kept by his bedside table. "Word for fire, word for fire" He mumbled repetitively under his breath. "Brisingr" He whispered when the word came to him. The wick of the candle lighted with a dancing red flame, matching the colour of that of Kaurarg. He then walked over to his shelves and searched hurriedly through his scrolls. He picked up one with his free hand and searched hurriedly down it. He soon recognised the words that his dragon had said. "May the stars watch over you" He whispered in english. He rolled the scroll back up and set it gently down on the shelf. He then collapsed back on his bed and blew out his candle before sitting it back on the table.
