Halo smiled as she walked along, her ears and nose attuned to her surroundings.

The sound of a rock crashing into another flew into Shannon's ears. She stopped in her tracks and sniffed the air carefully. Human. That was the scent that flooded in her nose. Shannon pawed at the ground and quietly went in another direction.

Halo growled lightly, ear ears going back. "Be careful," She said, walking toward the sound beside Shannon.

Shannon flicked one ear back and slid quietly into the shadows, getting closer to the human scent. She stopped again and looked up to see a human about ten feet away, sharpening a piece of flint. Her tail went up in front of Halo, telling her to stop.

Halo stopped and looked at Shannon for a moment then looked back through the brush toward the human.

The human kept on sharpening the flint quietly. "This will soon be a great weapon for Regin and his plan." he whispered. Shannon gasped and listened in on the human's thoughts. <Quiet Anu! You fool! Don't expose the plan.> A thought flew into the man's mind.

Halo's hackles raised as she listened and her ears flicked back.

<Yes Regin...> Anu thought back as he continued sharpening. Shannon stepped back but she stepped on a dry leaf. It crackled under her paw. Anu looked at the bushes they were in and shifted into a cougar. "He's a shifter! We need to run!" she hissed to Halo.

Halo nodded and turned back toward the castle.

Shannon ran quickly away to the castle just before Anu reached them. She swiftly bounded to safety, ready to relax at the castle.
