“I know,” Ash said simply. “You low on blood or anything, Miss Mosquito?” He tapped his foot absently as his hair turned almost silver in the distant streetlights.

Bella smiled and pushed away, to leave the institute. Her waist-length hair was a bit wavy, but straight enough.

Bella walked into the elevator, boots sliding across the floor with their loved, worn fabric. She leaned against the wall and chewed the inside of her cheek, looking everywhere but at Alex.

Ash glanced at Joe and uncomfortableness weighed heavily in the look. “Um, you look like you’re about to start drooling. Is my blood type too much for you? I’ve hooked up with other vamps before, so I know that negative A is, like, the champagne of blood types, right?”
