The first week is the honeymoon phase. The students enamored with the idea of being on a private island tasked with learning how to be the finest duelist surrounded by likeminded people. What's there not to like?

For Yurei, many things. One, she had tested into Ra Yellow. Two, she was demoted to Slifer Red for insisting she was being held captive against her will. One of these two things she was proud of.

Yurei sat on the rocky outcroppings that accented each end of the beach, half-heartedly trying to skip rocks. By rock number 5, she had given up on art and just gone to mildly tantum-esque throwing. Her ethereal companion, Crypto Tiger, lay behind her, watching each rock as it sailed out and sank into the ocean.

"You're being a child, you know."

"No I'm not." Throw. Splash.

"... you're pouting."

"I am NOT." Throw. Splash.

Crypto Tiger sighed. For now he'd had to abstain from attempting to reason with her.

Sighing, she looked around. It seemed peaceful. Though kids were everywhere with it being the first week. This was her second year here and to be completely honest? She didn't see the big deal. Hearing a voice, she stopped and looked around.

Personality: She is a happy person most of the time, however when she is angry people are best to stay away as she holds nothing back in the way of shouting and arguing.
History:
Arina grew up happily with her parents and younger sister, however after a helicopter crash left her and her sister an orphan, with nowhere to go Arina knew she had to try her luck with the duel academy, or else face life on the street with her sister.

Arina works hard so she can be the best possible duelist, hoping to make a better life for her and her sister

Arina can become stressed if she thinks she isn’t working hard enough. She will become irritable and lash out.
Arina finds it hard to make friends at times as she can become absorbed in her work.
Arina is also afraid to get close to people in case she loses them like she lost her parents.
About her: Arina is an excellent duellist, however if she comes up against a deck that is weighted against her, instead of understanding it would be extremely difficult to win with her deck, she convinces herself she is just a terrible duelist. She loves to relax with some snacks after a long day of classes, but she becomes anxious, if she relaxes for too long, that she isn’t studying enough in her free time.
Other: Her sister isn’t quite ready to attend the duel academy yet, however Arina is hoping she will apply the following year.

I examined my Slifer uniform and groaned, I wasn’t even good enough for Ra Yellow. I knew it was only the first day, but I just had to be better than slifer. I gritted my teeth as I walked across the academy grounds, really taking everything in. I was itching to get to my first class, but as I didn’t even know what was going to be taught first, I had no choice but to wander around until it was time. “This place is so unbelievably huge. They spent so much money on this place and us Slifer Reds get a toolshed for a dorm.” I huffed irritably.

Sighing, she looked around. It seemed peaceful. With others running around, it made it hard for her to enjoy her true form but she enjoyed hanging out with others. She played with her wolf ears and sighed heavily

Troi stood on one of the cliffs overlooking the beach, staring pensively out over the waves. What she was thinking about, not even she could say. Thoughts ebbed and flowed from her mind like the tides, never staying still. This place was curious. Recently built, yet already so much history behind it. The mansion in the woods was a prime example, and it was only a taste of what the island had to offer.
Voices reached the Obelisk's ears, coming from father down the beach. Others, on their own adventures, no doubt.

Crypto Tiger scans the beach, giving Yurei a little bit of room to pout. His ears perk up at seeing another human and what appeared to be some kind of dog. He stares for a bit.

"Yurei. We're not alone." She pauses mid throw and glances in the same direction. Blue uniform, someone with money and/or talent. Yurei shrugs.

"So? You want me to take on an Obelisk Blue this early in the game?" She smiles a bit. "That isn't such a bad idea."

"Wait wait, no, wrong. That's not how you're going to make friends here." Yurei huffs.

"Fine. Wait and see."
