Grisil nodded. His eyes looking around warily. "Yeah, even we have issues. As for the other thing, I felt somethin' but don't wanna find out what it was." He looked over his shoulder, and shurgged.

-Arisu-

Arisu had felt the spark of an action shake Ryoshi's back sometime during the flight; it'd snapped her away from the scenery just in time for her to be tipped right off the side of their succulent dragon. Tumbling through layered towels of wind that flapped against her ears, she had reached for Bastet and for the set of claws by her side, but had instead been snatched up from the shirt by a sword and offered a parachuted way down to the ground. The descent was made slowly, holding her tiny feet as her spine was floated horizontally downwards. The trip was amusing enough in her posture and in that she could watch Bastet glare at Komo from her own reluctantly conjured form of flight that she most entirely forgave the spirit for his prank. The dragon's chuckle pulled a smile from her while the last of the dawn's misty purple still lingered on the sky.
Arisu puffed as her feet touched the ground, hair bouncing from the long assault of dew, and reached back for the blade slipped between her shoulders. Her elbows tightened as she pulled and curved it over her head.
Along the street, Komo came down in a distant thunder of paws. Ryoshi was landing a few feet away in a crash of fire, thwacking his spirit across the back as Bastet sent all eight of her scarab talismans raining down on them.
Arisu eyed them an instant but her hands felt numb, like dipped in warm soap water, and quickly called for her gaze to drop onto the sword itself. It murmured, and its flames licked lazily around her battle-rived nails like sea foam. Most fascinating, she decided, was that I made exactly the sound of burning silk and that she could somehow so vividly imagine knowing just what it sounded like.
The wind slipped by and a cleaving scent entered from somewhere: lavender, sandalwood, mint. There was a wooden gate to Arisu's left, rotten, wrinkled and eaten by time but recognizable like a face, held up still on its molten pillars. This was it. She held up the white sword by her side for lack of a sheath and started down the pebbled road, already beginning to open the tiny paper cabinets of memory. This first one was simple and pleasant; an invitation to a place to sleep.

Ryoshi...

Ryoshi held out his hand and his sword gently slipped away from Arisu back to him. He smiled at her when the movement brought her head up, but didn't speak since it seemed like a point to be quiet. Komo had shaken off the parasitic scarabs without too much trouble, but the tiny brawl left him grumbling angrily to himself. As a spirit ball he zipped onto Ryo's shoulder and his presence was a prickly touch of nostalgia for the shaman. It was a nice discomfort....somehow. Even still the bathhouse smelled clean and inviting, and entering it didn't exactly make any of them feel uncomfortable. "Man, it's like a smelly lullaby."
A lone rook sits poised at the edge of a cliff, sword drawn, eyes open. Against him, an army, its size near unfathomable. The rook smiles.

If only it were a fair fight.

((Ugh, finally back. Last few weeks have been rather hectic but here I am I guess?))

•Asha•

Asha's visage focused into a smile, their brown lips jutting curiously out. Perhaps they were in a particularly good mood this morning; they'd started to notice the impulse to behave a bit mischievously, both in how they'd greeted their tired Mari home and in how this stranger's mellow attitude was so amusing to them. Maybe just a though.
The guy's gestures stuck out to them in such a way that they were quickly learning to notice them: they were highly readable, as if there to helpfully illustrate his immediate tone of voice and the meaning of his words. He was squinting around himself, pivoting at the shoulders with icy-hued eyed when the only thing actually waking the street was a distant neighbor sliding open her shutters for a morning smoke.
"Oh it's ok if you don't want to find out yourself!" they said, bending down to flip open the hatch keeping the gate closed at its root. They pushed a heavy fall of hair behind their glasses as they got back up, "but I on the other hand fully intend to find out what all of that was. Do you perchance remember where and when this 'feeling something' occurred?" They continued, nudging open the screeching gate and starting the bike out: "It's okay if you don't remember, I understand, but it'd be really great it if you did; would be really useful!" They looked back at the bike to make sure it wasn't getting caught in any weeds and wires, as had happened before often enough for them to want to spare their bike parts, then looked back at him. "For these kinds of instances I always get my best info from strangers and bystanders. What was it exactly you felt actually?" They had remnants of makeup still sleeping on the edge of their eyes in restful clumps which rolled stickily over as they blinked away their inquiries to the shaman one by one.

-Arisu-

Arisu remained contemplative of some quiet sensory state all while the sword glided out from under her fingers and Ryoshi entered the garden. She half expected the gate to accost them both in a weary oaken voice, and yet it simply stood there as her friend passed beneath it. Did people still live here, in the district? Things were very changed now; she hadn't really explored as much as she'd hoped. What was life like for those on the outskirts of Tokyo, now? She'd never really met many communities... She had this habit of focusing her interest on people only when she found them, sometimes to the point of forgetting that there was more she never wondered about. She blamed the mechanics of her curiosity. Well –and there was another nudge from the bouquet of scents strung across her face – she'd ask Celeste; maybe she'd go see for herself.
A wooden panel scraped open: Ryoshi was just walking into the bathhouse! She hurriedly joined him, taking the first few steps up the porch, hesitating an instant and looking back, ready to take off her boots and walk barefoot on the swollen grey wood. The rot that pervaded the house and inhabited it's very core was nothing short of medicinal, as if age had purified the house, dried it like a flower pressed between the wrinkled brown-inked pages of a botany book. "Man, it's like a smelly lullaby." he said, facing in. The word smelly was strange. "I guess so..." Her hand trailed back on a waterless beam, smothered gradually now in the swelling clementine skin of the sky. "I feel like it's really more of a bathhouse than ever before." The corridor was still submerged in the earlier night, was black and blue in the corners and along the edges.
She glanced up at Ryoshi. "Should we... ask?" She couldn't imagine entering, really. "No, they're here." Bastet was slinking up behind them, wings still melting back into her rib cage. "Celeste and Kohaku, and another haman–spirit duo I'm not familiar with, but they look peaceful; you can announce yourselves if you want to."

Grisil gave a nervous grin. "Well there was the one to the north, and one to the northeast. . . which is it you wannta'd to investigate?" While Asha was busy, Ookami moved closer to them sniffing at their legs and too the bike. Her silvery eyes holding a gentle curiosity, and once she was satisfied she moved back to Grisil's side and turned her eyes onto him. Feeling her eyes on him, the shaman turned to look at his spirit partner. "Hmm?" "escort them, I do not trust the winds, the rains however are fine."

•Asha•

"Both I think!" Asha said as they stepped over their bike, ordering the pleats of their skirt into place. "It's-" they checked a tiny watch, "5:12am; it's early, I'm in a good mood so I think I'll have the time to investigate this thoroughly, thanks to you're valuable help of course..." The end of their sentence dribbled into the craters of the bike's blue paint: the wolf was sniffing at their ankle, they could feel it's hot furry breath on their skin.
Asha often applied themself to enlarging the aspects of shamanism that they disliked in an attempt to remain distant from the practice, but instances in which they truly understood the appeal of bonding with spirits were in fact not as rare as they imagined. The ethereal beings were awe-inspiring, without mistake. This one had swirling silver-paint eyes and an air of majesty.
"You-" they hesitated at the animal's comment, taken aback by the order itself and pleasantly surprised at the wolf's use of their less used pronoun, "think I should be escorted?" They weren't exactly sure to which of the two standing in front of them the question was directed. "I'm very appreciative of your concern, truly... And I'd very much enjoy the company, if it's not too much of a hassle for you, and if you really seem to think it'd be unsafe to go alone... Which I must admit makes me a bit worried but..." They reached for the boy's gaze, on hand still holding the bike's ringed plastic handle.

"something is stirring, there is safety in numbers. . .an old river taught me that." the wolf's mouth did not move with the words, but they rang out clear. "the disturbance to the north was caused by a thorn dragon spirit, but I didn't sense him till just now." her ears flicked "I sense multiple shaman pairs in that location. . ." Ookami looked to the north, and then to the northeast, her silver eyes darkening."I would advise avoiding the northeast disturbance. The winds are coming from there." Grisil looked dumbfounded at his spirit, then to Asha. "I guess she likes you. Haven't heard her speak this much since I was little and she'd tell me stories."

((Good good! ^^ here's a small poopy 2am one cause yea.))

•Asha•

Asha held their bike very still, watching as words escalated from the wolf's aura to form a string of wise-sounding words. "Well, thank you —truly— for your concern and your advice..." their gaze slotted quickly into the shaman boy's, probing at its shards of blue, and slowly back out. "I'm very grateful that you both would offer to take the time to help me so thoroughly, and even warn me of... what it is I seem to be seeking out, especially to someone like myself." They paused once more as their mental preparation for this small morning quest readjusted accordingly. They continued: "I'm personally not familiar with any thorned-dragon spirits..." The small duffel bag they had thrown into the nook of their arm until them was passed from palm to palm and pressed into the beaten metal bike basket, making heard the precious metal parts and protective plastic shells stashed inside. "Will you be needing a bike to follow?" they asked couple.

Grisil smirked and looked at Ookami before he reached into his pocket. "Think I'm ready?" He asked as he pulled out a totem wand, carved from an animal bone. The spirit seemed to shrug. "if you concentrate, anything is possible. . .but it could draw the wind's wrath." she turned to look at the young woman before giving a wolfish smile "which one were you headed too? If we're headed towards the old Asakura Bathhouse, I'd like to speak to the old river." she sounded as if the one she spoke of was a long standing friend to the 'old river'.

•Asha•

Asha's eyes narrowed. Inch by inch, the pair of strangers was becoming more eager. While the boy's smirk was in no way worrisome and the wolf, like a majority of clan-specific spirits, was not likely to be malign, the American was intent on establishing clear communication should they travel via their magic.
Without letting go of their bike, they raised a clean, plump hand and interrupted. "How is it you intend on getting there? I don't think I follow." They topped the sentence off with an amiable smile and continued: "though I didn't know it was the bathhouse we were heading to! Quite frankly it's a place I'm aware of just because of general culture but that I'm not familiar with at all..." They'd been to the area only once upon passing through; it was Mari, in fact, who'd delivered to the street of the legendary bathhouse while on the job and who had gotten to see the building itself. She'd reported a 'moldy and nondescript disappointment" but the naive idea Asha had formed of the place as a lush mystical palace had remained in their mind. "Were you personally aquatinted with any of the bathhouse's inhabitants?" they inquired politely, resting their hand on the strap of their purse while the wolf's powder blue eyes continued to glint.
