➵ Eden Beauregard of District One
➵ Location: District One's floor
➵ Tagged: Madeline, Ms. Licaria
Eden held his breath, aware the first score would be his own. A sigh of relief escaped him as the number ten flashed on the screen. He'd done much better than expected, honestly to the point where he suspected executive-level meddling.
The other Careers' scores followed in short order. Madeline and Gloria received solid scores of nine, Killick matched Eden's score of ten, and Chaska and Caspia secured impressive elevens. Eden smiled warmly, proud of his allies for doing so well. They'd all scored average or higher for Careers. He turned to congratulate Madeline on her nine, but she exploded with rage before he could speak.
"What a peculiar reaction," Murmured their mentor as she continued to jot down notes. "Incredibly fascinating!"
"Ms. Licaria, this isn't helping..." He pleaded, horrified at the chaos, but she ignored him.
All he could do was wait out the storm, wait until Madeline's screams died down a little. When she finally sat down, her expression had taken on an uncharacteristic sullenness. Eden frowned in concern as he sat down beside her.
"Hey." He removed the soft comforter draped over one side of the couch. It was just the right size for a blanket, so he wrapped it gently around Madeline's shoulders. "If it helps, you scored better than eighteen of the other tributes. Your training score is still in the top percentages. But truth be told, I think the Gamemakers just reversed our scores by accident." Eden chuckled.
Still looking mildly concerned, he rose to his feet. "Do you need a warm cup of tea?"
➵ Icarus Matthias of District Two
At Gloria's comments, Icarus fixed her with a stern look. He was not fond of the District One boy either; Eden's demeanor gave away his youthful inexperience. That child should have stayed in training until he turned eighteen. But those were opinions and should not cloud one's judgement. Icarus held firm, traditional beliefs of how a Career should behave, and Gloria's rudeness did not line up.
"There is no honor in raging over a training score," Icarus scolded. He valued Gloria as a tribute - if he didn't, he would just stay silent. "You will have plenty of time to prove yourself in the arena."
Earlier, Gloria had shown a poor attitude when Chaska's score appeared. Things like this would not escape Icarus's notice. But, not wanting Chaska to seem weak, Icarus opted not to call attention to it. The lad earned an eleven and he should know it.
➵ Gleam Winston of District Six
"Yes, they did." Cold blue eyes narrowed at the mention of the District Seven tributes. Colby was in an alliance with those two, joined by some scythe-wielding child from District Eleven. Gleam still had not accepted them.
"My advice for the bloodbath," she said. "Trip one of your allies if it means you survive. Their lives are disposable."
Of course, Gleam would know a thing or two about that. She'd betrayed and killed her allies without a shred of remorse. Even now, she remembered the horror in her district partner's eyes before the life drained out of them.
➵ Garry Woods of District Seven
Garry returned Sienna's hug, squeezing his tribute close like a proud parent. The mentor began to tear up some more at his tributes' comments, but he took a moment to pull himself together. Both of them deserved a calm, rational mentor to give them advice before the bloodbath. He wiped away his tears as he watched Sienna bounce around the room.
"I'm already so proud of you both," He murmured. "You won't see me in the arena, but I'll always be rooting for you."
He'd mostly calmed down by now and was ready to give advice. "Any last minute questions? Even romantic advice if you need it. Not that I suspect anything, of course." Garry was a terrible liar.
➵ Jasper Tiberius of District Eight
Jasper smiled but said nothing. He did, however, reposition himself deliberately between Penny and Darius's closed door. If the unruly male tribute came back, he'd have to get through Jasper to reach Penny.
As the District Twelve boy's score flashed across the screen, Jasper noticed a certain gleam in his tribute's eye. The two of them were allies, but... maybe there was something else between them. "So, how are things with Felix?"
➵ Himaya Hannock of District Eleven
As Zoe raved away about her training session, Himaya found the one-sided conversation hard to follow. The mentor was a woman of few words, so she decided not to say anything. Just let Zoe get the words out.
She furrowed her brows in confusion as Jay extended his arms towards her. It took her a moment, but she realized he wanted a hug, so she scooped the child up into her arms. "I'm so proud of you," Himaya murmured close to the kid's ear.
As soon as Himaya released the boy from her bear hug, he went over to Zoe to congratulate her. A chuckle escaped the mentor's throat. Jay was always so friendly towards everyone - no wonder he'd made an alliance with Rieka of District Ten. They were a perfect match, the brightest spirits contained inside the tiniest tributes.
When Jay suggested Zoe might win the Hunger Games, Himaya gave them both a concerned look. "I'm happy you're excited, but be careful. Anything could happen in the arena," She murmured. Harsh but necessary - overconfident tributes died fastest.
➵ Reyna Byrne of District Twelve
➵ Location: Her room
➵ Tagged: Nobody
Shattered plates and broken furniture littered the floor, but the tantrum hadn't ended yet. Far from it. Unearthly screams of fury escaped the enraged tribute as she attacked everything in sight. A dented bedframe, holes in the walls, and a smashed nightstand were just the start of the destruction.
How dare the Gamemakers give her a low score! She was entitled to the best, but she received the worst. This was totally unfair! Karen Reyna was going to speak to their manager!
