Where has this thread been hiding? xD If I'd know it was here I'd have been lurking for far longer! I've loved The Walking Dead since I saw the first season last year, and this mid-season break is killing me. ;-;
Anyway, I figured I should answer the questions, just to give a kind of introduction to me and my opinions on the show.
*Possible Spoilers!*
(If you've not seen up to the mid-season finale.)
- What is your opinion on Shane right now?
Personally, I'm not happy with him. After the whole Otis thing, I was able to forgive him, just about, but from then on it's been a downward spiral for him. I think his decision making skills are severely clouded, and I worry for the group as a whole if they're going to continue doing the whole "do what Rick says until his back is turned, then go directly against his orders and do what Shane tells you". Despite Shane's insistance that Rick isn't "meant for this world", the way he handled *SPOILER the Sophia situation from the barn, it just proves that Rick's twice the man Shane is, and while Shane may be able to go all guns-blasting, he's the one that can do the hardest things and clear up the messes.
- Do you think Daryl and Carol are starting to move closer?
I do hope not. Carol would appear too old for him, but even if they were the same age, I can't imagine Daryl allowing anything romantic to happen. At most they could be sort-of-friends, but he doesn't strike me as the type to really become BFFles or anything. I think his tracking Sophia was more of a way of trying to do something good and making up for whatever he's done beforehand, than anything out of pity for Carol's situation. I could be wrong, though.
- What do you think Hershel is thinking about the walkers after the latest episode?
He may have his doubts about the walkers and his opinion now, but I doubt he'll make it obvious, and will stick to how he felt before. Even if he didn't care about them, or see them as sick people, I don't think Hershel would be too happy about his family being killed right infront of him by people he'd helped.
- Do you think if the group does move on from the farm, will Maggie go with them to be with Glenn?
I think she may want to, but in a way I hope she doesn't leave Hershel; he's obviously not cut out for seeing the walkers the same way everyone else does, and needs someone there to look out for him. She's one of the strongest people, and without her the farm would probably be less safe. No matter how much she cares for Glenn, it's a tough decision for her.
- Will Hershel still make them leave after seeing what he did?
I'm edging towards 'without a doubt'. Shane betrayed his trust and went crazy, I doubt Hershel thinks he's exactly the most stable or safe individual to have near his family.
- Will Shane turn on Dale and/or Rick?
I wouldn't like to say. He's pretty unpredictable right now, so it's not impossible, but I think Dale's likely to stay out of his way; he knows what he's capable of, and I think he'll play it safe.
- Will Daryl and Carol become closer now that we know what happened to Sophia?
I think if anything, Daryl may drift apart more; Sophia was his way of redeeming himself, and now he knows he's "failed", he's probably going to be quite annoyed and stick to himself.
- Will Rick become a little more 'stronger' in Shane's eyes because he took the step up to shoot Sophia?
I hope so. I hope it'll prove to Shane that he can make the hard decisions and can survive in this new world. I like to think he'll have more respect for Rick now, but he may find him more of a threat, in a way.
- What do you think is going to happen next?
Pffff, I wouldn't like to say. Shane's actions should have some serious repurcutions, Carol will be mourning for Sophia, Lori will come to terms with her pregnancy and the group as a whole will have to either convince Hershel to let them stay, or hit the road.
