Yay other LotR people! I've read all 3 and the Hobbit, liked them all, but to me the Hobbit seemed rather simple versus what the series is.

Looking for: any date

The Hobbit was actually quite complex. It wasn't just the plot; there was the whole history of the dwarves behind the plot, and there were many things mentioned but not further explained, which is how they are managing to turn the movie into a trilogy c:

Also, the Hobbit was written before LotR; he didn't anticipate it turning into LotR.
People wanted to know what happened next with Bilbo and his magic ring. xD
So it turned into the epic you see before you~!

I do love the clothing styles and cultures behind the races he worked with. I watch my boyfriend play Skyrim and Morrowind and when he talks about the races I'm all 'LIKE LOTR?!' at everything. Not everything, obviously. xD

That's one of the things I love about The Hobbit; it seems simple and it could be thought of as, but really there's enough in there for, well, three movies c;

Same here; I wish America was Middle Earth, so I could dress like an elf all the time! My friends make fun of me because I connect everything to LotR XD

Haha nice. I would've been more like that while growing up except the Harry Potter books were starting to come out at the same time. Also, Harry Potter books and movies spanned basically ages 11-22 or so, so in some ways they played a larger role in my life.

It's easier to be nicer/more open online. You don't have to look into people's eyes, see their expressions, their disapproval or reluctance or boredom. xD It's easier to fake being supportive or sympathetic or happy for someone, which makes you seem like a nicer friend. It's not necessarily WRONG, just very different in the sense of communication and perception.

And, to get this back on topic:
Does anyone have any reservations or doubts about the upcoming movie?
Anyone mad they won't be able to see it right away?
Any parts of the book they are excited/hopeful to see on the big screen?

I have no doubts about the new movie. Though, I don't know what I'll think of Bilbo, to be honest. I don't watch Sherlock, so I haven't ever seen Freeman's acting, really. Though he's popular, and obviously Peter Jackson wouldn't cast someone who wasn't fit for the role. So I think I'll enjoy watching him as Bilbo. I won't be seeing the first showing of The Hobbit where I live. It's a midnight showing during a school week, but I'll be watching it the day after in the afternoon/evening. I'll be watching it a second time with my friend who's coming over from Ireland for New Years, and who knows how many other times I'll watch it! xD
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE BEORN AAAARRGGHHHH!!! XDD

Those are my answers to the questions, anyway. :3

PFT Freeman's been in more than Sherlock!!!!! The UK's original version of The Office and A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy are 2 good examples! Also Love Actually and I can't remember my other examples. I think he's adorable. xD like reluctant to go out and get his feathers ruffled but ends up being suited to adventure- I can quite see it all playing out.

I'm also excited for Richard Armitage. He's the one who starts the song in his deep voice in the trailers.
