Games you like that no one else has heard of

Postby Freezair » Sun Oct 25, 2009 4:16 pm

Looking through this board's old topics (in pursuit of candy... heh), I see a lot of topics about games people really like, asking if anyone else likes them... and then nobody replies. XD So here's an all-purpose topic for all those games you like that nobody else does! Who knows? Maybe you'll find something cool to play. ^^

Fossil Fighters - I got this game around when it came out, in August-ish, and I love it! It's for the DS. :D It's like Pokemon, sort of... only, instead of Pokemon, there's DINOSAURS! Dinosaurs with elemental powers, and cool designs! How can that NOT be awesome? It starts out a lot like Pokemon. You're a boy going to a far-off island, where people battle with revived dinosaurs, and you want to become a master fighter. And you do! In fact, you become a master fighter... suspiciously quickly. But there's still more to do. A lot more. Like, maybe, saving the world?

I love this game 'cuz it introduced me to so many cool dinosaurs I'd never heard of! Like Amargasaurus, and Alectrosaurus, and... other cool stuff! Plus, there are eventually ROBOT dinosaurs. Specifically, robot Therizinosaurs! How is that not awesome? :D Plus, if you like fangirling characters... there's an EXTREMELY fangirlable character named King Dynal. But I don't want to spoil too much... :D

Beyond Good and Evil One of my favorite games of all time. :D It's for the GameCube/PS2/Original XBox/PC. If you like the Legend of Zelda games, it's kind of like that... only instead of fantasy-y, it's in SPACE! You play as a girl named Jade whose planet is being invaded by evil aliens. But one day, she gets a secret mission from a resistance movement to help fight the aliens, and she joins them! You get to sneak into their bases, fight their robot minions, and cool stuff. Her uncle helps her, and she also saves the life of a soldier who decides to repay her by becoming her sidekick.

It's really fun, and it's pretty funny, too. But what I REALLY like is the music. Seriously, the music in this game is AMAZING. Look it up on YouTube; it's great. This game also made me cry a lot near the end... SAD stuff happens. And a few happy things. ^^

Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy: This one's also like Zelda! (Beginning to sense a pattern?) Only instead of being a European-style fantasy world, it's an EGYPTIAN fantasy world! You play as a half-lion demigod named Sphinx, who recieves the sword of Osiris in a training mission. But he finds out that Set, the Egyptian god of the desert (and, usually, evil) is trying to take over Egypt! He's already turned the Pharoh into a mummy and imprisoned him in a dark castle. You have to venture all over Egypt and work with the mummified Pharoh (he has just a little life left, so he's still "alive") to save the world.

You switch between playing as Sphinx and the mummy. Even though Sphinx is tough and has the sword, I like the Mummy better... he's much funnier. X) His special power is, since he's dead, he can't be hurt... so if he gets set on fire, he can use the flames to his advantage to burn things! He does stuff like get set on fire, electrocuted, flattened, split into three parts, turned into a tiny monster, and even turned into smoke! And he always reacts so amusingly. It makes me smile. :P

Magician's Quest: Mysterious Times Also called Enchanted Folk and the School of Wizardry. This one's like--no, not Zelda--Animal Crossing! Except now, you're a wizard! You go to a magic school, and you can cast spells and incantations. Your fellow students aren't just animals--they're also magical creatures, and sometimes even things! (At my school, my classmates include a flower fairy, a cupcake fairy, a robot, and I used to have a living gourd!) Plus, unlike in Animal Crossing, you can get one of them to be your boyfriend or girlfriend. 8D Plus, there are quests called "Mysteries" you can solve, where you make friends with magical creatures like dragons, unicorns, kappas, and other unusual things!

My school is called Falconer Academy. My boyfriend is a yellow bear named Matthew, and my two best friends (who are also best friends with each other) are a penguin named Moony and a blue frog named Freya. I'm a master magician, and my favorite spell makes treasure chests appear in town for you to dig up. And in my room, I keep twin pet Kesaranpesarans.

Fossil Fighters is really fun. And it's funny! It's got a great script; the localizers did a good job.

Did you go to the school and do all of Professor Sol's tutorials? He tells you exactly what you need to do bit by bit. XD You have to turn into a wizard (spin in a clockwise circle), have your "wand" tool out, and enter the Magic Linguistics that make up a spell! Which you of course learn in classes.

(Here's an easy one, though. Magic + Secret + Seek. Lets you find treasure.)

And once you finish that, he tells you how to enter Mystery Time. He gives you a key, which you take to the BIG door in the dorm building. Just use it there and pick "Mystery Time." :D

Magician's Quest: Mysterious Times

I have that game. It's really fun. Yeah, it's a lot like Animal Crossing. Maybe that's why I got it in the first place?

Ah, Zoombinis. So much of my childhood was spent at my friend's house playing that game XD

But as for games I like; Well there's Drakengard, a PS2 game I'm still in love with and really need to 100%....
Oohhh! Also the Monster Rancher series- I was practically raised on it, watching my sister play the first one, eventually getting to know how to play the second, and happily playing the fourth (the third is...I have no idea where it is, still in Japan, I believe. The fifth killed the series. Sad face.) But it's so addicting if you have a lot of other CDs; those are what make the monsters. There are thousands of different types of monster to create, even on the first PS1 game. Then you train them and battle them. A fun time is had by all.
