Since I couldn't find an existing one, I thought I'd create a thread for discussion of the Netflix show She-Ra and the Princesses of Power!



So, for those who have seen it - what did you think of the finale? Did anything surprise you?

What have been your favourite characters and moments in the show and why?

Did you ever watch the original? How does it compare to this one?

What are your favourite pieces of She-Ra fan art and appreciation? Have you made any yourself? Share those here too!

Oh my gosh yes!! Honestly I was kind of prepared to not see any romance/have their relationship remain kind of ambiguous because I'm so used to networks putting restrictions on creators for that kind of thing but it was beautiful and I was so happy when I saw it!! And the dream part that shows the future bit...everything was so perfect in that moment and I adore the outfits they were wearing!!

And I'd love to hear more about your cosplay plans! I've only tried it a little myself and that was quite a while ago, but Glimmer has totally pulled me in and I'd love to try cosplaying her. I also think a group cosplay of the various Adora/She-Ra looks would be really fun!

I was expecting something like that to happen but for it to be her one act of kindness at the end so Adora could save Etheria was just...oof

It took me such a long time to decide how I felt about it! While I was watching I kind of felt like I wasn't as sad about it as the show maybe wanted me to be, and it felt a lot like Snape's death in Harry Potter as a comparison I think! But I totally get you about it hitting hard, it's like maybe there was potential for closure there after all and now there are so many things Adora and Catra won't get the chance to know. I would have loved to see them working through that together but I totally get that there probably wasn't time to include it all.

I really like all of the outfits too aahh it's definitely a tough choice! I think between those two outfits though season 1-4 wins out for me, 5 is really powerful and cool but I think the previous one really symbolises most of the journey that Adora and She-Ra went through together, it's really recognisable and it's also super cute!

this is a tough choice,,, i absolutely adore all the outfits! but i think season 5 is the way to go. i love how adora's outfit has a little bit of all her friends outfits, i don't know if i just looked way to into it or if it was made that way on purpose. but either way, i love it. it also shows the growth adora had and how the first one's can't control her anymore and can't decide who she gets to be. however, the original design will always be close in my heart.

1. i was both surprised and not when i saw the finale. on one hand, i had hoped catradora or any lesbian ship would have been in the finale. but after voltron, and knowing it was dreamworks that made both of these shows, i didn't want to get my hopes up. i was scared dreamworks or netflix would make it so the only confirmation of the ship was hand holding. but,,, they kissed. and i nearly screamed. i was so happy my otp was finally canon that day was amazing tbh,,, catradora and harlivy on the same day? cartoon lesbians are really out here trying to kill me with their cuteness..

2. my favorite characters have to be catra and scorpia. i love them with every ounce of my being. i can't not love them. it's not in my system.

3. nah man. i was born in the mid 2000s, i never even heard of she-ra before it came out on netflix. i have now watched some clips on youtube and it was,,,,,, an experience, to say the least.

4. i wish i have ;w; i would draw catra rn but i have too many commissions lol

Oooh, you make a good point about the season 5 outfit - all those little touches and the symbolism about how her friends have helped her grow was so lovely <3

I'm so glad that we were all surprised in a good way by all the canon representation that the team managaed to include, it does make me wonder if they had any difficulty or had to fight to do that in any way, I think that would be interesting to find out!

I think in the beginning I wasn't too sure about Scorpia, but the more screen time she got the more I fell in love with her honestly, she's definitely a character I would die for now ahaha! I love that almost none of the characters in the series are entirely black and white, some definitely have more good than others but everyone is complicated and has their own stuff going on. They all really have a lot of depth to them and it makes them so fun to watch and connect with!

Also I really love your avatar! I checked out your art and it's super cute, if you ever did get around to drawing Catra I'd love to see it! Good luck with your commissions too ^^

Speaking of art, I know that a lot of the team who worked on the show ended up getting tattoos in the first ones script, especially the 'heart' one from the finale which I think is really pretty. Would anyone else consider getting something like a tattoo inspired by the show?

what was your favorite ship that became canon by the end? (besides catradora, because that's probably everyone's answer.)
i really like scorfuma, even though it didn't get confirmed until a few days after the show ended. scorpia and perfuma are two of my faves and i'm really glad that scorpia is finally in a healthy relationship.
