Considering his actions were identical no matter if you played as the boy or girl, I always assumed he was more 'I am a little kid!' than anything else. The fact that, as Nanorat said, his room looks like a little kid's room simply adds to that assumption for me. ^^

Personally, I found N boring beyond belief. Not only that, but very contradicting. My favorite rival is probably the Silver/Gold one, although I always liked the Red/Blue one as well, mostly because I felt sorry for him because it always looked like his grandfather favored you over him, and not just a little bit. XD The fact that he also made it to the Elite Four and became the champion before you was pretty cool for me too... although of course, I could just be sentimental and like him because it was my first Pokemon game. X3

As for villains... Team Rocket all the way, no matter how lame they are. XD

He's very infantile... so I dont think its something else but simple child's behavior. Lets play together! etc. Have you seen his room? Its a room of 6-year old, full of toys. Ghetsis probably kept him on a mental level of a child to manipulate him easier. Girls in castle say he's so isolated he only knows how to talk to pokemon, and doesnt know how to communicate with people.

I don't think his mental level is that of a child, in bulbapedia, it is said that he is brilliant. But I do tend to create a fictional romance where one may or may not exist. I tend to like the "bad boy turned good" type. The gold and silver/ HG and SS rival was one of my favorite (I don't consider N a rival) rivals.

Mental level and intelligence are different things. He might be a genius but he's still very childish, non-mature in the matters of daily life. If he's brilliant in every way, how didnt he saw the plot going around him? Most of the grunts were rude to their pokemon, he had to be blind not to see at least one. He might be educated, but he's still very naive.
He's not even a bad boy. His goal is good for pokemon. He's a very kind and soft person. That's why I just cant take him seriously as a villain, because... he's not. xP

Yeah, I agree that N is not a villain. I've never truly seen him as one well when I said the "bad boy turned good" I was mostly referring to the HG/SS rival. I guess what I'm really trying to say is I like to see the transformations. N has a transformation, he goes from the naive individual that he is into someone who has now become informed. When he left, he had not yet completed his transformation. He left TO transform into what he was trying to be under Ghetsis. He was trying to be a Pokémon advocate of sorts, but due to his naive and sheltered ways, he thought that he was going about it in the right way. But, this is all based off of my opinion and interpretation of a game.

Silver is my favorite, but It's because of a misunderstanding I had. Lol in silver/gold/crystal I use too think he was a girl. I use too think that the reason the cops never found him was because they were looking for a boy when he was really a girl. When the cops asked for "his" name I always gave him a girl name and put a girl symbol after it. Then with my first rival battle in soul silver I fell out my chair laughing because I realized he was a boy. Poor silver, I wronged you for sooooo many years. XDDDDD

I still have crystal and gold. I think I'll play them and name silver a girl name again for old times sake. Any name suggestions? :3

My favorite rival is also Silver. He's just so... cool. <3 Villains always win my heart, and Silver does sound like a villain up to late in game. xDD
