I believe you're given the stones because the stones can't be traded, so they have to give you them in every game so that if you migrate your dialga etc over you can actually use the stones with them. Can't actually catch the pokemon in B/W, I'm afraid. It's like how you get given all the plates for arceus in each even game though you can't catch him at all (at least, I seem to remember getting them in B/W, I might be wrong).
