Aside from the fangirl thing (which you will sadly find everywhere), Ashfur was made into a completely pointless villain. I would have loved to see him as a sullen, quiet individual who just wants to be left alone, but the sudden change into an attempted murderer who either helped in or attempted to kill at least four innocent cats, one being a leader, was pointless and stupid.

In general, the series deteriorated in the female character area. Originally, the only difference between a male and female cat was which one of them had kittens. But over time, they were relegated into wise, maternal role, or feisty, sassy teenager role. Even the fanbase got into that a little bit. It was very frustrating.

yay!

yeah, I feel the same way. making him a villain was pointless.

EXACTLY. I honestly think that the sexism got worse as the series went on.

also, here's something I find about warriors: am I the only person who thinks that death in Warriors is really, really cheap? like, everyone goes on about how in warriors ANYONE CAN DIE, apparently. kinda reminds me about what people say about Attack on Titan

but here's the thing: even though a lot of characters in the book die, there's about a 99.99% percent chance that they will show up again in Starclan. it doesn't make the deaths feel very final, considering its basically just treated as the cats going to a higher plane of existence rather then actual death. I just don't think that death in warriors is very effective, considering the huge emphasis that's placed on afterlife and dead cats in starclan.

You're really on point. So much so that I can't even add onto that with anything. I'm just in full agreement with you.

And the thing is, regular deaths are pretty touching in the series. When cats die, you feel it. If they got rid of the whole "ghosts" thing, that would be one of the strongest points of the series.

still not fine after the last mabelcorn

oh my stars i haven't been here since forever! now that we're talking about characters who lost potential, may i chime in and remind us of brackenfur? i found him very likable even though he was a very minor character and i was happy when he became temporary deputy, he had something of pre-tnp firestar that made me think 'this would be a just, kind leader' but then brambleclaw happens. also, brightheart. when we first met her she was an angry teen cat tryin' to prove herself to bluestar, actually taking some action against unfairness, even though it was immature. then she has this traumatizing incident with the dogs and i understand she'd be...more chill after that but still perhaps with a strong sense of justice. but nope, no more taking stands, we get a complaining queen who seems to have trust issues about cloudtail, wasn't she always on his case in tnp and pot or am i going nuts?

Yeah, same tbh

I'll admit though, I'm actually really tired of shows killing off all the good characters as a way to shock the audience, because there's only so many times you can have a character be brutally killed before it starts getting repetitive

WHAT UP MINTYYYYYY and yeah no kidding holy god

Man, I hardly remember Brackenfur. I do know that he was a really pleasant cat that got shoved to the side because Main Character Must Become Leader. Brightheart got that too, which sucks.

Honestly, I think it would have been a great part of the story for Firestar to say, "I'll rename you since Bluestar named you in shame" and she just rejected that. "Bluestar wants to try and humiliate me in front of my Clanmates and ancestors? Fine! I'll take that name to spite her and become such a great warrior that my name will be remembered for generations!"

It would have at least added some continuity on the rename thing.

I know the feeling. I've never quite gotten tired of it completely, but I know the exact feeling of "Really, you're going to kill this character to shock us. Why? That was your best one."

If I'm correct, she was the one to start that whole trend. She wasn't cruel like her mother, but she did speak out and had an attitude. After her creation, the personality became over-saturated.

I specifically remember being really annoyed with how Firetasr treated Brambleclaw and Sqiurrelpaw in Midnight before they ran off with the other cats, but I haven't read the books in a while so I dunno if I'd feel the same way now

*weeps happy tears of joy* ARCAII! YOURE BACK!

In other news, does anyone think Nightstar is a wasted character? He seems to be the only cat in the series with what appears to be athsma, and a loyal warrior in the Yellowfang Super Edition, but in the main edition he was just the 'Eeeeevil ShadowClan leader... WoooOOOoo...'

I'm afraid I don't remember that. I'll have to look at the books again some time.

AND BETTER THAN EVER, BUDDY! How ya been?

I don't remember the asthma. I remember that he was really pointlessly killed off and not given his nine lives for whatever insane reason the Hunters decided on.
