I have yet to find a shiny pokemon. But i got my torchic if you still have your game cases i suggest you look in game case you can get your own torchic with special item that gives it mega evolution XD. it's limited time mystery gift thing it goes until january 15th 2014 XD

I just found the shorts kid in Leaf Green.
"Hi! I like shorts! They're delightfully comfy and easy to wear!"
*Proves that quote wrong by wearing jeans every day for a year* No, I've seriously just done that.
I also fully believe this kid, Youngster Ben, is Youngster Joey's second cousin twice removed. He uses a Rattata.

Isn't there a youngster in X and Y that as his opening asks you why he wears shorts in the high grass, and when you beat him he says because they're comfy and easy to wear? I seem to remember it like that xD
Also, has anyone noticed the guy that raves about Science in every (I think) starting town? Heh, it's interesting.
