It's probably a maturing thing, like a baby deer loosing it's spots.

Yeah...I loved those ear rings...but, if it was a maturing thing, shouldn't Sarabi's ears not have them? She has the exact same rings...maybe it's just a male thing. I heard Mufasa had them, too.

I'm not sure if it works that way, lion cubs are born with spots to help them hide and they fade as they grow but the rings should have stayed with him

Yeah....Hm...particular. I have noticed that Adult Simba did have small, little, faint ear rims. It could just be my imagination!
