It takes place in old England, (Victorian Era) The main characters, Strange and Norrell, are both practical magicians, working for their country. (Sorta) Norrell is an older manwho spends his time locked up in his library, plotting and being afraid of mice. Strange is the hero-type guy, going on adventures and exploring crazy magic involving the Raven King. (Go find out who he is on your own)
Mostly, the book has too many plot details to put here,but in the end the real problem is that Lady Pole, (A charactor, what do you think she is?) Amd a servant, Stephan Black, have been enchanted by an evil fairy-yeah, sounds lame, but the fairy is really, really twisted- and Strange am Norrell save them. Not really. God! It's impossible to type about this!
