How to code adoptables so they 'grow up'?

Yeah. I am making a adoptables thread and these adoptables have life stages. I would like to know how CS makes the pets grow up like magic, and if they use imgur.

I am fairly sure they just replace the pet's image automatically after a certain period of time, and they are just uploaded to the site so no they don't use imgur ^^
I tried to do growing adoptables once - just replace the image manually after the period of time. If you do "codedrops", just make one for each growth cycle, or simply add a section that will teach your audience how to insert images with links into their signature.
