Story:

"Aaaaand.... DONE!" she squealed as she put down the hot glue gun and marveled at her work. Two beautiful, delicate wings made of handmade paper flowers sat on the table. Maya quickly glanced at the clock. "Agh! I said I'd meet up with them ten minutes ago!" She exclaimed. Quickly grabbing the rest of her costume, she bounded across the street to her friend's house, who had gathered their whole group of friends to go trick-or-treating together. Maya rang the doorbell, and the door opened right away. "Sorry I'm late!" she said with an apologetic grin. "Don't worry about it, Maya," her friend said. "Put your costume on, and let's go!"

The streets were crowded with all kinds of costumes. They were mostly kids, and Maya felt a little silly for being so old. "Hey, lets go over there!" her friend exclaimed, pointing to a street with a bunch of wildly decorated houses. "They really went all out, huh?" Maya chuckled. Eerie moans came from the various automated zombie hands. Jack O' Lanterns lined the walkway and lit the night with their ghoulish grins. Maya approached the doorbell, but her friend slammed it before she could reach it. A haunting chime rang out, and the witch statue sitting on the deck sprang to life with a ear-splitting cackle, causing Maya to jump in the air. The door swung open with a loud creak. "Trick or Treat!"

"There... that should do it!" Scout fidgeted with the cape draped across their back. He spun around approvingly, stopping in front of the mirror to smile brightly.

"Wow! I look great!" The white ribbons around Scout's arms fluttered in the wind that was brought by their open window. His tail accessories bunched together went well as they scanned their outfit from top to bottom.

"I don't look half bad for a fairy god.. goddess.. whatever I'd be!" Scout laughed at his own comment when he heard his friends enter the house and call for them. He ran down the stairs, jewelry jingling, capes flowing and halo's bouncing. Grabbing their bag waiting at the door, they all ran out the door.

The crew went outside, and Scout felt a bit silly going trick or treating at more higher ages. As Scout scanned the area, they noticed a variety of costumes. Dragons, witches, skeletons, all kinds of costumes!

Including amazing costumes, there were so many decorated houses filling the rows! Scout could barely believe his eyes as the lights filled them. The wind kicked up again, snapping Scout out of his daze.

One of the friends in Scout's group suddenly exclaimed after walking for a second or two,
"Ooo! Let's go to that one!! Look how it's decorated!"
The four hastily sped-walked over to the door and rang the doorbell. Giving the biggest, friendliest smile he could, Scout yelled-

"Trick or Treat!!"

Trick or Treater+Story:

Mac had always been small. He was a pretty normal size for a kitten, but he just grew slower than all the others, and eventually stopped when most of the other kids were getting their biggest growth spurts. He'd never really been too bothered by it, aside from some of the more mechanically challenging aspects. He couldn't reach high shelves without climbing, for one. And people tended to take him less seriously than his normal-sized siblings. He was never the most athletic, as he tended to get pushed around by teammates and opponents alike in the sports he'd tried. His favorite thing was to play video games on his computer with his friends across the world, adventuring in fantasy worlds where anyone could be a hero.

There was one character that stood out to him more than most, though: Gelbin Mekkatorque. The leader of the gnomes, a small, often downtrodden race, Mekkatorque was smart, and strong, and most definitely a hero. He put loyalty to his friends above all, just like Mac. He used his clever mind and hands to do what others said he couldn't, and he was a role model for those around him, even if they'd have look down to see him in real life. There was no question that Mac was going to base his Halloween costume off of him.

His mother was used to him spending a lot of time in his room, but leading up to Halloween, she saw her son scampering in and out of all the rooms in the house, trying to find pieces to assemble a homemade recreation of the intricate mechanical armor his character was supposed to wear. Old jewelry became elegant ornaments, and pieces of costumes from years past were layered together to make a fairly impressive getup for being made all by one young cat, just before Halloween, out of what was basically trash. Not many of the people he knew in real life knew who he was, but he knew his online friends would love it once he could get a photo. For now, though, he had to run! The sun was starting to go down, and his "radioactive" candy cauldron wasn't going to fill itself.

Mac sprinted down the street to make the most of the disappearing daylight, and spotted a light on on someone's porch. He skidded to a stop, accessories clanking almost like he was actually in mechanical armor, and nervously walked up to the door. He stood on his tiptoes to grab the knocker, and knocked decisively.

Story:
October this year was particularly cold, and Xanther imagined that Halloween night itself would be much more so. Shivering with barely-held-back delight, he pulled on the pants, buttoned up his shirt, and flung the long maroon cape across his back, ensuring that he didn't forget the floating scarf. His sister, Belle, hadn't charmed it for nothing - "so better make good use of it!" she had announced.

It was funny, really. Xanther was nearing the age where he would no longer be able to go trick or treating, and yet every year he still felt the tug and pull, wanton longing to scamper through the streets, candy bucket in tow and a new costume to flourish in. Apple bobbing, pumpkin carving, seeing scary costumes and brilliant decorations - it was the best holiday, hands down! (And let's not even mention the candy corn that he had been waiting for all year!)

This year, Xanther had decided to take inspiration from his family roots. A family of "white" witches, the charms and spells lovingly curated by the family had, for many years, brought good luck and health to the town folk, who sought Xanther's sister's plethora of knowledge pertaining herbal remedies. Xanther himself wanted to follow in her footsteps, focusing more on potion making and chemistry, which he intended on studying.

But for the time being, he had decided to dress up as a necromancer - and an evil one at that. Red eye contact popped in, eye patch on the other, a dusty black hat decorated with a paper maché skull and he was good to go. Paw out the door and a few feathers floating behind him in tow, he -

Oh!

"Belle, could I possibly borrow your small cauldron?" Xanther pleaded from the doorstep. His calm sister appeared with an amused grin on her face, wiping vines off of her makeshift cauldron.

"Of course," she nodded, and then scrunched up her nose. "Don't get it sticky with candy like last year, mind. Just remember to be back before midnight!"

Xanther beamed, and with that, assumed his alter ego - Necromancer Xavius - and scuttled into the night, barely noticing the shadow behind him as he ran to the nearest house, knocked succinctly, and when he thought he heard the doorknob turning, put on his best posh voice to say:

"Ahem, trick or treat!"

Story:
"Alright mom! I'm ready to head out!" yelled Leila while she was coming out of her room.
"Are you really going to wear that? What even are you?" Her mother said while she turned her head to look at her daughter.
"I'm an adventurer! Come on, you can't really tell? I have a camera, machete and a backpack. Did you not even look at the hat?" Leila responded to her mother.
"Alright. I see it now. You better hope that machete is foam. I don't want to hear it if you hurt yourself tonight. No whining to me." Leila's mother responded.
"Yeah yeah mom, I got it. And be home by 11, I know. And no talking to strangers, even though that's kind of contradictory. And check my candy before eating it, I know mom. I've been doing this for years." Leila said while rolling her eyes, being used to the drill.
"Well alright, have fun. And I mean it." replied Leila's mom. Leila heads out of the house, hoping for one good fright.

"Well, the first house. Can't be that bad right? Worst thing they could do is say they're out of candy, close the door on my face or say no. Right?" Leila said to herself while she approached the house. A slight breeze came across made her hair blow gently. She could feel a chill going up her spine. Believe it or not, she was scared. There was a slight stench coming from the east, but she couldn't put her finger on it. She took a big gulp followed by a deep breath and rang the doorbell.
"Trick or treat?"

Story:
“And. . . done! Voila!” Benoît grinned, placing a wizard hat atop his head, completing his costume. He quickly spun around to marvel himself, watching his magnificent cape fly behind him. The young dog’s ears twitched in excitement, for night was about to fall, signalling the start of fun.
Halloween had always been Benoît’s favorite holiday. The mountains of candy he would be able to collect and snack on for months to come, the pranks and scares he could pull with his friends, everything about Halloween just made him so happy.
Suddenly, the doorbell rings, making Benoît jump. He dashed from his room to the front food, and throws it open. His friends stood outside, beaming from ear to ear.
“Are you ready to go?” One of his friends asked, to which he vigorously nodded yes. Following them out of the house, the cool, autumn breeze ruffled Benoît’s pearl fur. The faint scent of crisp pumpkin spice hits the young dog’s nose, and fallen leaves dance around the neighborhood. The Halloween spirit is all over.
The group heads towards an extravagantly decorated house to start the festivities.
Benoît sprints up the stairs and to the door, where he proceeds to knock and yell,

“Trick or treat!”

Story:
Edeltocht ran up the stairs to the attic, excited he could finally put on his costume for Halloween. He rummaged through the costume chest, spotted a splash of bright green and pulled out his costume from last year, a green dragon! It was still in great condition, so he hurried and pulled it on. Heading back downstairs, he met with the other pets in his family heading out to their own parties for Halloween. He was the only one who still wanted to trick-or-treat this year, but he was fine with that, it was his absolute favorite holiday after all!
The others left him as they went outside, and he looked around at the neighborhood, all decked out for Halloween. His next door neighbors even had someone sitting outside in a scarecrow costume, jumping up and scaring every kid that came to the door. He laughed and headed down the street, the moon glowing full above him, partly covered by clouds. He spotted a house across the way, dimly lit with tombstones and black cats scattered across the lawn. He looked both ways, crossed the street, and ran up to the door. He knocked, then sat his trick or treat bag to the side and said "trick-or-treat!"

Story:

Tyr blinks, yawning once again. His snake companions have rushed up ahead in front of him impatiently, but he slowly pads along, careful not to trip over his cape or get his branches caught in anything. One swift turn of the head and he would have to struggle to free himself from a street lamp or bush, and worse, sometimes he would smack some unsuspecting trick-or-treater in the face. It's happened more than once already, and the encounters are too embarrassing for him.

He has to admit that he's not really used to this. He seldom leaves his home in the forest, and the only reason why he's out tonight is because the snakes were insistent. It only took a few weeks for him to cave in to their adorable little faces, and while he wants to say that he regrets it, he doesn't, oddly enough. It's nice, being outside and breathing in the fresh autumn air, and all of the houses they've been do all have wonderful decor. Many of them had trees! He had to stop to admire them before the snakes managed to pry his attention away from them.

Do you think I could be that handsome one day? he had wondered wistfully, but the snakes weren't interested, instead continuing on their quest for candy. He peers down at the small pool of little plastic-wrapped treasures in his cauldron, wondering just what they would do with all these sweets. Is it to eat? Do snakes eat candy?

As he catches up to the snakes, he notices they're staring at the door of one of the houses. "This one?" he asks the snakes, pausing beside them. They nod vigorously. He trusts them, but he still stands motionless for several minutes, debating whether or not he should go through with this.

Then he walks up to the house, silently repeating the words he rehearsed the night before in his head. "Hello, I'm Tyr." The words come out pleasantly clear, not the jumbled mess that came out the first time. He hesitates, then decides to add, "Trick or treat."

Story:

Autumn gathered up her supplies for the candy hunt: A flashlight and a map. The flashlight was to help her see in the dark, and the map listed all the houses nearby that had already decorated for the holiday, houses that were pretty likely to have candy or games. Some of her neighbors had gone all out. One house had a giant corn maze, another had spider webs everywhere. Not that she liked spiders, mind you, but it still looked pretty neat. Her own house had a pirate theme going on.

She was dressed as a scallywag, herself. Hat, eye patch and parrot included. After putting in her fake fangs and handfuls costume jewelry, she was ready to go! Bounding down the steps she barked a "good luck" to her sister, who would be tormenting the unlucky tricksters knocking on their door. Autumn knew she'd probably have to share when she came back home ... but she didn't mind. So long as she got all the licorice!

With a jaunty wag of her tail she approached the first house on the map, making sure to mark it with a red dash. Dashes were houses she'd already been to, so she wouldn't make a mistake and visit the same one twice. The giant "x" at the end was her own house, of course. (More accurately, it was her room where she'd return to hide her loot from her sister.) "Trrrrick or treat," she barked.
