Trick or Treater:
Story: snoopy patted the dust off his shoulders one last time, sending an unsure glance at the retreating backs of his three siblings, disappearing around the corner on their way to other houses. he couldn't wait for his first year trick or treating alone! for some reason, his older brother had offered to take his younger siblings this year. and, well.. he wasn't complaining.
stepping off the creaky stoop of his house and ducking under a fake wool cobweb (a decoration that was put up each year by his older brother) he landed in the dewy grass and trotted over to the sidewalk. for a minute he simply watched everyone and looked at the passing costumes; they seemed to get better each year. the laughter and chatter from nearby groups of trick or treaters made him feel safer, the idea of other people around making his excitement flutter. turning down the opposite way from his siblings, snoopy began to do a speed walk past a pair of younger kids. "nice costume, an angel?" snoopy turned to correct whoever had said it, but they were already gone, running to another house. there wasn't anything he could do but brush it off. "cupid," he corrected softly, the wind catching his words. still, a smile lit up his face. he needed to be quick so gizmo could take a loop around the neighborhood. nothing could ruin his night.
going up to the first house's door, snoopy set down his bow next to his bucket. his bucket for the night was undeniably from the year before, when his younger sister insisted on being a witch. not wanting to hold anyone up who could be coming behind him, he raised a paw and knocked on the door, just hard enough that someone inside would hear. after a moment, with a sense of delay, he was quick to call out, "trick or treat!"
