Story:

Halloween rolled around once a year, marking the day Esmerelda could return to the land. Eyes would not judge the nature of her appearance. Her frightening gaze would scare, but it would be for a much better reason. To top it off, she could study others' habits as well as collect delicious bounties of candy! It was an exciting day. Esmeralda would be dressed in the normal attire of a sea witch: pointed hat, a simple black and white top, and a pendant of the moon, controller of tides. It suited her perfectly.

Esmerelda said her goodbyes to the sea creatures around her and crawled out of the ocean, her wild hair sticking to her fur. It was hard to move with a tail (land was definitely meant for legs), but she managed to ease her way into town. Magic kept her scales moist so she did not have to return to the water. By the time she arrived, the sun had begun to set and other costume-clad animals filled the streets.

Excitement coursed through her veins. Her face contorted into a toothy grin, one almost unsettling to look at. With her bag gripped in her teeth, she headed up to the first house. It was well decorated, giving off an eerie atmosphere. Esmerelda loved this land tradition; scary made her feel at home. With confidence, she approached the door and gave it a hardy knock.

Story:After waiting all year to go trick-or-treating, it was finally Halloween. Floof had been lacking in inspiration for a Halloween costume this year so she decided to just go as a plain old ghost. It hadn’t been too difficult to put the costume together earlier that day so she was ready long before it was time to go out. She was practically shaking with excitement as she hurriedly grabbed her cauldron-shaped treat bucket and hopped out of the house.
The full moon shone brightly in the sky, lighting the way for trick-or-treaters as they went from house to house to receive various goodies or tricks. Floof was quite eager to gather as many treats as she could. She had quite the sweet tooth so sugary treats were a big favorite of hers. She’d learned which houses had the best treats so she could visit them early on when they were all fully stocked up on candy. There was one lit up house that caught her eye so she went up to the door and knocked.
“Trick-or-treat!” She exclaimed excitedly, holding out her cauldron in anticipation.

Story:

’Twas the night of old Hallow’s eve.
Milkyway was excited for it was her first time trick or treating in the old town of chickensmoothie.
She wandered about her old spooky house.
The clock tick tocked as whispers echoed throughout the house.
She said to herself, “Old Hollow’s Eve. Make this night the spookiest of them all and let the ghost n’ spirits in this old haunted house scare those who trick or treat here!”
She started enchanting a spell and then got ready to go out and trick or treat.
As she got into her she-devil costume and headed out the door, the streets were filled with ghoul’s, goblins, monsters, and other spooky or even not so spooky trick or treaters.
Milkyway headed down the street and walked to your house, will she get tricked or treated?

Story:
Pepper twirled in front of her mirror after finishing her costume, laughing as she spun. The little Australian Shepherd was dressed as a sparkly blue fairy this year. She had worked so hard to put her costume together, hand sewing and crafting every part of it herself. She smiled and applied just a tad more glitter to her fairy wings, there was never enough glitter in her mind. She grabbed her candy bad a bounced out the door. The sun had just set leaving a fierce chill to the fall air. Pepper shivered against the wind, her dress not proving much warmth at all. She didn’t care though, she looked forward to this day every year and the cold wouldn’t stop her. She couldn’t help her excitement as she watched the other trick or treaters around her. All the costumes amazed her, there were too many costumes to list. With her tail wagging pepper took off down the sidewalk, her oversized candy bag dragging beside her. Pepper picked up speed as she thought about all the treats she was going to get. She couldn’t wait to go home with her bag filled with goodies. Her tail started wagging harder as a house came into sight. Filled with anticipation she knocked on the door and squealed ”Trick or Treat!”

Story:
Autunno was nervous, yet excited. He'd never really been trick-or-treating before. His close friends had told him it was fun, and had given him the courage to try it out. His costume, an autumn fairy, was painstakingly crafted by making his own plush mushrooms, cloth leaves, and delicate wings. He adjusted the small mushrooms 'glued' onto his massive antlers, and made sure the mushrooms were nicely in place on his mane. He inhaled, then sighed, "Let's do this."
A knock jolted his attention away from his costume, and he rushed through the air to answer his door. There, his friends sat waiting for him; a western dragon named Binxie who was wearing a bee costume, and a galaxy-colored lion wearing a skeleton suit. "You guys look awesome! I'm ready to go now, sorry for the hold up," Autunno said sheepishly. He exited his house and locked his door. "Where should we go first?"
"Well, considering this is a busy street full of houses that are just brimming with treats, I'd say forwards," said the dragoness, elbowing her furry friend in the side gently. Autunno and the lion laughed in agreement and went on their way. As the night progressed, the trio had gathered so much candy it was sure to last them months. "Guys... we're at the end of the block. There's one house left..." Autunno said as he looked around to his friends, who were looking exhausted and a little spooked. The house was covered in mist from fog machines, shapes swirling in and out of the fog. Other trick-or-treaters, perhaps?
"There's no way I'm going in THAT-" she said, pointing at the fog- "you two can go... I'll stay back here," squeaked the dragoness. "Y-y'know what, I think I'll follow her, too. Not that the house is scary or anything, I just uh... don't feel like going," said the lion, pupils wide and hair standing on end. Autunno had a feeling the house wasn't so bad. "I'll go and tell you guys what I get!" he said boldly, flying off towards the front step before the group could protest.
He arrived quickly, and stared at the front door for a bit. He looked back to see if he could spot his friends; the fog was far too thick. His gaze turned to the door once again, and he gulped, then slowly raised his paw to knock.
Knock... knock... knock...

Story:
Hope looked in his closet for the outfit he never got to wear for the Jungle Resort Summer Event of 2018. By the time he had gotten all of the items he wanted, it had been too late, the event was over. But thankfully he had saved the costume, thinking it might come in handy for some other occasion.
With Halloween starting in a few hours and not really finding anything inspiring to dress-up as, the cat had remembered the feathered head-dress with matching accessories. Donning the items, he smiled in the mirror one last time before leaving his house and walking down the decorated path.
He waved to his Mom, who was setting up a booth for trick or treaters, as she always did each year. The black feline smiled under the wide brim of the witch's hat that was perched on her head, glad he had kept the jungle themed outfit. They spoke a few words to each other about being safe and promising not to cause mischief before parting.
Continuing on his way to the next house,
he bounded up the steps and stood at the door. Raising a paw, he knocked with a cheery, " Trick or treat!"

Story:
“Who should I go as this Halloween??” Cherry thought as he browsed the costumes for sale. Witches, skeletons, killers, horror characters, princesses, but nothing realistic, nothing even close. He kept looking for something more of his style when he found himself in the clearance section. He looked around the shelves and almost fell down when he saw something perfect. Perfect. It was realistic in his opinion, and it’d be easy to pull off. Narcissus. Narcissus just happened to be his favourite Roman myth character, not because of his well-despised nature, but because Narcissus gave Cherry the kind of vibe of a villain and a hero at the same time. Cherry just liked him. He was obsessed with Greek and Roman myths and he always had been. It was perfect, and above all, it was only five dollars! He bought the outfit and took it home. When he got home, he went to his yard and picked some of the lilies that were growing and wrapped them up in a pretty little bouquet. Then he went to the hair salon and got his hair done up in a different style. When the costume was done, it was perfect. Cherry was ready to go trick-or-treating! He waltzed up to the door of the first house on his street, wondering if they’d even know what he was supposed to be. Anticipating their reaction, he called, “Trick-Or-Treat!”

Story: The lights in Hashbrowns room turn off as he comes bounding through the door and down the hall in his homemade cowboy mummy costume(although he was sure nobody could tell he made it himself, he was a professional teepee-er after all), nearly knocking two of his siblings over as he does so. The house was full of chaos, as all of his family members bustled about, his sisters finishing their costumes, his mother taking photos of everyone, fussing about them "being too cold, with the early October winds". Throughout all of the chaos, Hashbrowns tried to slip by everyone, for the sole purpose of avoiding all the fuss and babying from his mother. His attempts are futile, however, when she stops him to take his picture, give him a smooch on the head, and wish him good fun. It was the first year he'd be trick or treating with just his friends, and he was almost home free! Just a few more steps....

And he was out the door! Dashing along the sidewalk, candy bag hanging from the clutches of his mouth. He was already five minutes late meeting up, so he had no time to lose! Rushing along the cement, he could see his group of friends in the distance. Olli, with his zombie costume, Maria in her skeleton queen she'd been working on for 2 months, and Brick in his teenage mutant ninja turtles costume. They seem to see him, too, because they start waving and calling for him as soon as he's in earshot. When they get together, they immediately head towards the back of the neighborhood, and start their journey! For the first time without his parents, Hashbrowns walks up to the door, and with a brave puff of his chest he knocks, and, in sync with his friends, chants "Trick or Treat!"

Story:
Maddy couldn't stop bouncing up and down, she was so excited to go trick or treating for Halloween! This was the first year that her mother was going to allow her to go alone. Her mother struggled to put her princess dress on her. "Madeline, settle down for a minute so we can get you dressed," she scolded gently. Maddy nodded and held still, though her tail still wiggled back and forth. Finally, they got the dress on the struggling pup. Maddy had been a princess every Halloween for several years now, opting to keep the same style dress even, year after year.

"Can I go now? Please? I'm so excited! I can't wait to see the Halloween decorations and get treats!" Maddy squealed. Her mother looked at her with a soft, pleasant smile. "Yes, dear. I know how excited you are," she replied, leading her to the front door.
Maddy picked up her huge treat bag in her teeth. "Be safe, have fun, and fill that bag with treats!" Her mom said, and Maddy flashed her a big grin and practically ran out the door.

Maddy headed to the first house she could see with its lights on, walked up the sidewalk, and planted herself in front of the door. She wasn't scared at all to be out on her own. She held her candy bag and pressed her nose to the doorbell, then sat and wagged her tail excitedly, ready to shout "trick or treat!"
