You'd really only have to use the first one, as we were thinking the females should have manes anyway, since if not they would just be wolves with lion tails >.<
We thought maybe it should be distinguished by color instead of manes, such as females have brighter colors to attract mates, and males have more earthy colors, but we still haven't really worked that out yet.

No, the idea sort of died off. Plus we saw a similar species being created and decided we didn't want to seem like we were copying. Sorry for keeping you guys in the dark.
