This is not the species you'll be drawing, but a subspecies version of this one. They share similarities and have differences.

Name of Species: Caustic Saladragon

Weight Range: 300lbs. - 500lbs.

Height Range: 15ft. - 25ft.

Physical Appearance:




They look similar to their relative the Saladragon; they are smaller and slimmer than one, but still huge. Their head looks the same as one, but in the shape of a crocodile's, with the jaws and teeth of one. Instead of having round pupils, theirs are narrow slits. Their tongue is longer, skinnier, and sharper, able to lash out and stab prey and enemies; it injects the same venom as the Lesser Katastrofeas, which inherited that ability from the Caustic Saladragon.

The paws and the bottom half of the jaws have a thicker, tougher to penetrate version of the amphibious skin instead of scales; the belly's version is thinner, softer, and easier to penetrate, making it the creature's weakspot, just like the Saladragon's. The arms and legs are a little longer and thinner, with the paws of a Saladragon. The tail is the same, but a little thicker. The wings are like a bat's, and are large and long, with short, sharp spikes on the ends.

The scales are tiny, diamond-shaped like off of playing cards, flat, flexible, and tough. The razor-sharp spikes are shorter, and do not cover the arms and legs--they have the scales instead--, making them not as effective at protecting them as their cousin's is. Except for their paws, belly, arms, legs, and most of their head, their body is covered in razor-sharp, flat, overlapping spikes like in the pic; these spikes normally lie flat, but will stick straight up when threatened. The spikes on the head are a different type, and are like regular ones, just like in the pic. Their hide is scaly, armor-like, and thick, with amphibious skin that replaces regular skin underneath the scales.



Their scale colors can be: white, grey, green, blue, brown, black, gold, silver, purple, yellow, red, and/or orange.

They can be striped, spotted, or plain.

Tongues are always blue, and claws are always white.



They are great fliers, diggers, and swimmers. They can sense poison, weakness, sickness, and body heat--they have heat seeking organs. The teeth and tongue are sharp, and are capable of injecting a potentially fatal venom that burns and paralyzes its victims. They can spray an acid from their mouths that can dissolve metal and flesh. They don't have as much brute strength as their relative, but are still strong and resilient. They make up for their decreased strength and lack of fire and lava element with increased speed and their toxicity.

Their jaws are more powerful, and can break bones and metal with ease. They do not possess the fire and lava abilities of their cousin--instead, they are immune to lower temperatures and freezing. They can curl up into a ball and roll around, which is used for much faster traveling, attacking and defending, and play. They can crush trees, boulders, and rock walls. They can live and breathe both on land, and in water--even when it's frozen.

Their claws can slash and rip through enemies and boulders, and dig through rock. Their spikes are sharper than both their teeth and their claws. Their tail can be used as a whip and a rope, and can constrict prey and enemies. They can also knock down and through tough substances.

Their weaknesses are their soft, amphibious underbelly, and extreme heat, fire, and lava. They will either retreat deep underwater and/or in ice and hibernate or migrate until conditions change to where they can survive and thrive. They can also counteract it with their acid, which is freezing cold, and can either breathe it or cover themselves in it; they can fight the fire and lava and defeat it, but it can also destroy them. They curl up to protect their belly, but they cannot stay that way indefinitely, and can be pried or knocked open by something or someone that is as strong or stronger than they are; the rest of their body is hard to penetrate or break, including and especially the protective, deadly, razor-sharp spikes that much of the body is covered in, but not impossible.



They are both carnivorous and frugivorous--this last one means they eat fruits.


They are human-like in intelligence, and are human-like or animal-like in manner; though they are usually a mixture. Their front legs can be used as arms, and their front paws as hands. They can walk and run on all fours and on two legs. They are capable of facial expressions.
