He is old and dying at this point as his forest is being chopped down, so not too happy overall. He does smile though, when greeting his bird friends, collecting stones, etc.

The stump on his back is just a mess of rotting wood- nothing specific. His tail is knotted, and his horn is cracked and dirty.
