Dream Pet Wake-Up Call

I'm taking the approach that Wendigo suggested- I want to earn my dream pets. Though begging for a free handout would be easier, it wouldn't feel like I... well, earned them. They're like a personal challenge that I must overcome; And the reward is often so much sweeter if you actually worked towards it.

Now; no offense to those who have gotten them for free- I've even given people their dream pets, before- But to me, I'd much rather earn them. :3 Just personal preference.

Honestly, one dream pet I ever got for free was a CE galaxy back when I first joined in Sept. 08
It was my first day on the forums and I saw an adoption thread giving out soo many July/August pets

The other time that happened was when I tried extra hard to get some advent 08 pets that a user needed
I had a non-swirl moon in my siggy saying that is what I wanted for christmas
Well when she sent me the pointy eared moon, she sent me the non-swirl too ^^
To this day, I still can't thank her enough and it did feel great getting them for free

BUT, now they are pets that sit there (I do love them, don't get me wrong) as I take so much fancy in my jewelry sun
Not because the jewel is rarer, but because I worked my butt off to get it (traded over 50 pets plus dog-tag moon)
The reward of a hard job is there and so the pet becomes more memorable to me
Anyways, to make this short, I agree with the fact that earning pets is more rewarding
I mean, I am all up for someone giving me pets I need and would be very very grateful
But, I guess it is just something to think about :3

Now -- I do not think anyone should just give away pets. I mean if its your friend and you feel like being nice that day sure whatever. I think you should EARN your pets.

I think people end up feeling like people should be 'less selfish' when they havent been able to easily acquire the pet they desire.

Thats my two sense.

I think people still give away rare pets, but it's just to their friends, not a complete stranger.

As I earn pets on my wishlist, I keep them for a bit. Then after a while I trade them, usually for less then they are worth, to some who also has the same pet on their list.

I really like helping people get the pets they want -- that's really what CS is for right?

Every month I try to open my newbie thread so that truly new people have a chance to get pets they might not be able to.

I got all my dream pets through art trades & contests. Although, I guess earlier it was easier to hand around July 08s because they were only from a few months ago, now it's a year and a half. Personally, I agree with the 'work for your pets' thing, you can be unselfish both by giving and not taking.
