When to Keep and When to Trade

I think this is the right place to put this discussion. I have been thinking about the number of dogs I have and the fact that it will undoubtedly grow as the new pets come out in the new year. So, I'm looking for a little insight from people who have been here a bit longer than I have. What would you consider a number of dogs to start thinking about going through and either deleting, trading or offering for adoption some of the ones that you don't have multiples of but aren't particularly fond of? I honestly doubt that I will ever delete dogs just because I'm not fond of them I will most likely pick one of the other options or send them to the pound. Or would you keep them all even if you don't particularly care for them just for the sake of having a complete collection? Or perhaps you just want to brag "Haha I have the dog from whatever month I'm so lucky!"

Honestly, I only trade off my duplicates. I like having the full set. I'm still missing a pink dog from September... =/ and the pps ones. But I have all the ones from October and November, including the Joker. I'm just a bit bummed out since I didn't get anything from July or august, just some October pups. And sadly, I've got all them as well so I am disappointed. Especially seeing all the people who got at least September dogs. But I would think that if you weren't wanting the full collection and you didn't want the dog, someone else may want it to finish their collection and would trade you something else for it?

I see what you are saying and I would probably keep all of my dogs if I had complete collections of some of the older dogs. I have all the Octs. except the Joker and as of today I have all 16 of the pre-July rats. I think I might have all the Sept. Specials but not sure. Other than that I just have a few dogs from July and August.

that is how i am i have a few july-septembers and i have all the others exept the joker(i wish!) any way i trade off the pets i dont like i have relized that being the newb i am it is almost imposible to get every single pet you can have so i aim for the pets i like most and the rest ill take if i can get them i dont like rat though and i will never trade for any

Right now, I'm still focused on collecting them all. Eventually though, (more like now) there will come a time where I can't manage all of them and will just give away the ones I don't want and haven't assigned a story or personality for.

That's exactly what I was thinking . There will come a time when I just say "wow this is too many dogs" and I'll do something with them. I'm in the process of assigning stories and personalities to some of my favorites.

When I was starting out, I tried not to focus too much on 'completing collections', and instead worked on getting the dogs that I liked (um, starting with Septembers, because obviously Julys were out of my league when I was a newbie xD). It's worked so far for me to focus instead on my favorite dogs, although it's a very slow and tedious task. It was horribly useful though during this time of the advent calendar, I've just today completed my advent calendar pets >w<

My suggestion is keep the unique-looking and rare pets to yourself - and try to get duplicates of them if possible - you never know if in the future someone will be trading older pets for what you have now, and it will be handy to have something to trade in the future :3

Ooh congratulations on completing your advent collection! I have my rats complete but I'm missing about nine or ten dogs still.

I'll keep your suggestion in mind. At this point I'm just kind of kicking around ideas about what to do when I start to get more dogs than I know what to do with lol. Which is why I started this thread to kind of get some ideas from other players.

I've already gotten several offers on Advent Calendar dogs that haven't grown up yet, and I badly want to see what they grow into, so I've been (as politely as I can) rejecting all of them. I even put "I only trade when I have a full-grown duplicate, otherwise I'm not interested" in my show-off topic and I still got offers, offers in exchange for horses and stuff I wasn't as interested in. Including an offer on the puppy I refuse to trade because they're named after my grandfather's dog that he had when I was little (which is dead now, unfortunately). *sigh*

I wouldn't mind trading a Warrior cat, a horse, a full-grown rat, or one of the weird small wolf-things (I'm sorry. I don't know what they are, exactly- it can't be a Butterfly Wolf though, it doesn't have wings.) for another dog from a month before I joined, though. I've heard Sun-Dogs and some other ones are valuable, but I'm not sure why.
