The rules state to do so as they want to make clean reference images for everyone... this is not a discussion thread, it is only to be an outcome guide.

Why put an item under it?

'Cause if you post your pet - it's picture with transparent background (without normal background), but with "username's pet". If you put item under pet, bar with username isn't on pet. So Chry and others can cut them and made charts with pets only.
It's sayed in the rules in the first post in this topic... Rule 2.
