Nick just let me know that we accidentally ran out of Very Rare pets because they were being given away too quickly (we still have pets for higher and lower rarities, this issue is specific to VR pets), we are going to need to adjust the rarity distribution in the pound openings to prevent this from happening again, so expect a change to the rarity distribution in future openings.

The reason there were 18 of the same dog is because the system registered those as being the closest pets to VR it had available. Apologies for the recent awkward pound openings.

tbh I agree that it seems somethings up, the lag getting into the pound is crazy and all the rare+ pets are taken almost immediately. last month it seemed the pets were way more evenly distributed. I hate to whine about free pets, but it's hard not to notice that so many people have no rares on their pages at all, on top of the lag it seems kinda fishy. I don't think it's an issue with the site because rares are certainly in the pound, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a script or bots taking a lot of the rare+.

I've noticed it too. Something is definitely up, I guarantee there's a few people botting the Pound. I've seen plenty of folks in denial of this but I'm almost certain that's exactly what's happening. It is NOT a good thing that the VRs have run out. I almost never see rares+ on my page even when I get into the Pound right as it opens (IF the lag doesn't hit me first), and when I do and try to click the Adopt Me button, it lags me out or just straight up doesn't register my click at all. Something odd is 100% happening with the Pound lately.

I don't personally handle these cases, but my understanding is that often people are banned for acquiring pets in a shady way, then they trade them off to others which creates a very complicated web of trades that need to be sorted out (this can often take a long time, can involve waiting for people to log in so we can talk to them, etc.) If we have any doubts, we stay on the safe side because we don't want to send pets to the pound that have rightful owners.

The main issue was that the rarity spread in openings weren't a true reflection of what was actually in the pound. Sure adding some pets from banned accounts might be a temporary solution but without adjusting the rates to be more accurate they would quickly run out again so the long term solution is fixing the spread to be more accurate. I think recently we were just getting a bit too spoiled with the frequency of rare pets - it's not sustainable releasing that many unfortunately.
