Staff Litter 2022 Discussion Thread

I just noticed the little underbite and horn on this one, plus two little bumps on the shoulder area. o:

It has dark scleras, too. I wonder if the bumps will become extrusions as it grows? Maybe it'll be something draconic or demonic. Maybe, like general helper Oddity-Lad suggested, it'll be a one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater.

i love purple! and blues! so love the pallette so much! and the newborn blanket is so pretty! i love it!
the 4 pups today are very cool, unfortunately i adopted mine pretty late in the day so ill have to wait for several hours before i know if i got these growths :'( lol lol usually i try to get them as close to rollover as is feasible lol but i was super happy we got to adopt 40 of them!!! hurray!!!
clue hunting is so much fun! <3 how does one check signatures and trade rules for transparent text anyway? (i dont know how to lol)

Okay. A problem with this whole naming all our staff pups trend--when they grow and some are extras I have to pick the doubles that are doomed for the trade folder and that makes me feel bad Q.Q I'm sorry Valencia! It was either you or Blythe!

I tend to not name my pets anymore, but for my staff litters I've taken to giving the pet the name the artist gave it (if applicable) and then adding which staff member created it. It can be a pain to do sometimes but I have done it! x3

Oh no, I missed the cloudy gradient pup!
Looking at it, my first guess was that it's Zeena's -

The gradient is reminiscent of her 2020 pup

and has a mouth edit like her 2018 pup


I know that's a loose basis for a guess, but it's early so I'm working based off art style and design choices at the moment, lol!
I'm excited to lurk and see what theories emerge in the coming days. :'D

This pup is Desmond's, and it will turn into an axolotl. Desmond says that "growth on second day" is last year, and this growth was on the first day. Also the pattern is reminiscent of last year's crocodile.

This pup is probably Saikiyo's, because of the clue "Starlight".

the starlight one is possible, but i dont think the first is desmonds. only 3/8 of desmonds staff pups have had line edits (two being pretty smol), and for the past 6 years they've been really simple and unassuming in the first stage. the first and second day clue has nothing to do with this years pup either, they just forgot to remove it from last staff litter. the first day part wasnt to do with the pups growth and was referring to steve irwins death, you can see the full explanation for it here ^^
desmond could by all means surprise us with something new this year though, but with how consistent theyve been for 6 years now it just seems unlikely imo


this is their heaviest line edit pup from back in 2015, the other line edit pups were only ear/face edits in 2018 and 2021


and these are desmonds first stage designs from 2019, 2020 and 2021, all pretty basic

I hoenstly have no ideas for what could grow from this palette, I'd be stuck if i were making one D:
