Help! Do you collect every pet?

I'm also a huge pokemon fan, it feeds into my urge to collection one of everything- when SWSH came out and I found out there's several different variants of milcery, i had the intense urge to collect them all.

I relate to you very well, i collect one of each guinea pig (and dwarf hamster, probably gonna start collecting the deer soon) because they are my favorite animals.

I read this whole thread, and I too am trying to collect every pet. Although, more like collect every pet I can. I don't trade away my non duplicates anymore and utilize events as well as free adoption centres. Although I know I won't ever end up with every pet, I think something like all commons and above wouldn't be that hard to achieve in the end.

I’m trying to collect them all! Unfortunately I just started playing on Halloween of 2021…. So I am 99% sure I will not accomplish it. So for now I’m just trying to collect all the 2022 pets as that much more accomplishable. I will be trying to then do all 2021 and so on. So we’ll see what happens. It’s wishful thinking for me. In also just collecting my favorite line arts at a time too.

I feel like setting yourself little goals like 'collect every pet from 2021' or 'collect every parrot' is a good starting point. But imo I dont feel like its worth collecting every single pet. And thinking about it, using something like rarity math, you'll be trading away all your younger pets for older ones, but then you'll be left with no younger ones if that makes senses? Unless you buy C$ yourself, I think its impossible to 'catch them all' :(

I'm of the mindset of "Collect every pet on my wishlist". I dont care for most cats, dogs and horses. I'm into the cool quirky types and I'm slowly chugging along to try reach that goal haha

As someone who did it for many years, no. It is not worth it.

Discounting just the chasing down missed outcomes, having to chase down multiple URs year after year is super stressful, let alone 14 years worth of them!

The best thing I ever did for my collection was let the complete collection go. It's so freeing to only collect the pets I want and like the look of, to not have to chase down something I don't even like because it's rare or a missed outcome or both. I only wish I did it sooner and gave up the pokemon mentality and turned to hoarding as a more realistic (but similarly satisfying) goal.

It was somewhat nice to have one of every pet just in the off chance I needed a particular one for a dressup but that usually only came up once a year at Halloween or something. Or if a user asked how they could dress up their pet but guess how often that ever came up? Good in theory, poor in practice.

I just collect the pets I like! It's more fulfilling for me that way.

My low-key goal is to collect one of every pet (excluding store pets), but I don't actively work on it. all the pets I'm missing are on my wishlist, but I don't have the fodder (or the desire tbh) to trade for an ur or smth similar. Instead I'm trying to get all monthly pets, and I have a bunch of common hoard pets so users can still trade with me. Without hoard pets, all pets after 2013 on my wishlist are uncommon and up lol

I'm not sure it's worth it to trade for those old and super valuable pets if you don't like their designs. seems like a lot of work for pets that will essentially end up as group fillers. if you only want to collect pets you like, go for it. we're all here for a good time

I used to be like that. I joined in 2009 so it wasn't impossible trying to when I had the time. I realized after several years that I didn't really feel any different when comparing months I had the whole set and months I didn't. After 12+ years, the amount of pets you accumulate are almost overwhelming, you honestly forget you have certain pets lol. So to keep things more fun and stress free I seek out my favorites that I don't have, and any regular missing pets I get from the pound or fillers in trades.

i’ve decided to try and collect every outcome for the events/months that i actively play for—like easter this year—and beyond that, to only collect pets i like the look of. though it would be super fun to have a complete collection, there’s just too many!

I do collect all pets but that's only because I began back in 2009. I don't even want to imagine what it's like to start from scratch today after 14 years of releases. It's exhausting enough to have to keep up with the new URs every year o.O

I honestly believe it's unrealistic to try to collect all pets if you joined within the last couple of years. If you wanna do it, go for it. I get it, having a complete collection feels good. But I also get it if you don't want to do it. There are a lot of pets on CS and a lot of them are unbelievably difficult to get today.
And you definitely need an alternative way of getting older pets than just relying on lucky adopts, free adoption centers and the pound. C$ is a decent way for anybody, or you can do off site trades or art trades if you can do that.
But even then... Yeah.. Good luck.
