i'm interested if you have any numbers for this!! :0 not saying you're wrong, i'm just curious. they definitely feel shorter, but it feels to me like that's because there's 1. more users and 2. those discord servers i've seen people talk about, which ping others when the pound is about to open; and not because there's less pets to go around. i do think it's kinda sad how quickly it empties out nowadays, there's this part in me that's miffed when i refresh after the first 20 seconds and there's only like, 400 pets left out of the original 1200 lol it feels very hectic.

I dont exactly remember if there was ever a time when you didnt have to wait 3-10 hours for it to open
The lost and found opens like twice as often as the pound though :"D
my conspiracy theory is that this is because, from what i've seen, a lot of people trade pets but not as many trade items, so items are less in circulation and thus the lost and found opens more often. i've still managed to snag a pet from the pound 7 times in the last two weeks, which is a good number to me haha
Juliamon makes a good point too, we've had the pound for a lot longer than the lost and found

imo part of it is gratification. it feels good when you can gift people things! when you send your pets to the pound, who knows when they'll get adopted and by whom? you won't know (unless you
keep track), and the other user doesn't get to thank you. and like

it's nice to think that your pets go to someone who will keep and appreciate them like you would appreciate the pets in your collection. additionally, you get to set rules. a user can adopt unlimited times from the pound (just has to wait for when it opens next), but an adoption center can say "hey, every user gets to adopt only once a day/week/month/etc." it's that level of control.
however, i personally feel like adoption centers can get pretty frantic too when they're very active haha. so many auto-cancelled trades....
