Actually, we've never had a transparent dog, those are all translucent.
Transparent - clear (like glass);can see objects and light clearly through.
Translucent - light and vague shapes can be seen through to some degree, but are distorted and/or 'foggy'. this is the stage between transparency and Opacity.
Opaque - no light passes through and nothing can be seen through it.
