Is this fair? I'm horrible with items. I know all the freebies are worth 2019 commons but what about the candycorn?

Unfair to you. Even if you value each item at a very common from this year your side would equal a little over 3 2018 rares. Also I'd say that the candycorn are worth about an uncommon from 2019 as they're a bit like animal eggs from Easter.

Adding to this
Your side is worth the 3 month rule ( = september, october, or November rare)
While their 09 is from june ( = march, april, or may rare)
Agreed it is unfair to them by date

for a moment i missed the bmd and i honestly nearly threw my laptop across the room

the bmd floats from between a sorb and a non depending on who you ask, so imo whatever way you spin it it's very good overpay on their side.
speaking purely from personal experience, i reckon you could get 8-9 mid advents for your side total, which would be just a tad more than a blue rose (7 mid advents).
with that said, i saw a trade where a yellow sorb was offered for a kitsune set and a handful or two of other random store pets, so bear in mind that they in particular have excellent demand.
