Theoretically if we had an incredibly rare monthly adopt/event adopt from 18/19 it could be considered from the list. Older pets are clearly defined as "2008-2012" and by specifying this then no 13-19 pet would be considered because of date, regardless of rarity
I don't think it was that nuanced?

I'd imagine the exceptions are in relation to store pets down the line or URs which obviously aren't as old as say the moondogs.

Ur pets and store pets are to be polled separately so those aren’t included right now. Sin stated that before. It’s even mentioned in the poll itself those things will be polled later.

It’s not just older pets. It says older pets with exceptions, and I see I’m not the only one confused. Older pets with exceptions was stated in discussion to include any incredibly rare pets. Ex: robo rat. The May/July/August lions I would imagine.

So I’m still wondering what the difference is. There perhaps should have been a post clarifiying.

Seems like the processes referred to by the options are different but will likely produce the same output (set of pets) in reality.

Older pets only with some exceptions: Start by looking at older pets. Then add in worthy later pets as exceptions (like the robot rat) and take out unworthy older pets as exceptions (like any pets that just changed with the latest update)

All years but not all VRs: Start by looking at all years pets. Take out unworthy pets.

But I feel like these will produce the same output because we think almost all older VRs are worthy and we think any newer VRs like the robo rat are possibly worthy enough to be exceptions. So the first method produces most older VRs + most newer VRs, and the second method also produces most older VRs + most newer VRs

The poll is saying that no year should be excluded but not every single VR+ will be considered. For example the VR robo rat might be considered but a 2016 store pet that's VR might not be considered c:

Yeah ^ sort of similar to the Old RL where a lot of 09 VR butterfly wolves may not be considered rare enough to be on the rarity list but the 2011 St Patty's dragon would be

This is kind of the mindset I was thinking when I included the two similar options.
I asked to the general thread for someone to come up with some options but we went a few days with no replies to the poll so I did my best to create a variety of options to apply.

basically the last two options are meant to be translated to

"Every year and every VR+" (exclusion of store/urs at the moment)
"Every year but some pets excluded." (not counting the stores/urs at the moment)

Im not the best at the consideration of “rarity” here, however I do have some opinions on a ‘new’ guide. I am in support of it, however I have a few questions regarding what will be happening here.

Since the 2018 overhaul, there’s definetly been a lot of changes that need to be considered. Such; are pets that turned very rare in the overhaul that are 2008-2012 going to be considered? Such an example are the 2009 sortics I believe their called, going to be considered? Or would they just be of normal value. If the overhaul had happened sooner than 2018, what would have happened? The other RL was a bit misleading before the overhaul; however that’s not their fault of course. How would you track the rarity of current pets that are being moved onto the list. Like the Eat Me was (before the overhaul) placed below the Drink Me which stayed VR. As the same goes for some of the liontails. How is this going to be able to be tracked?

We're likely going to approach the overhaul soon in the placement data, but as of now until we vote every VR+ is a possibility. Store pets I cannot answer too because we are going to vote on if they should be included or not. And if they are there is a new set of challenges we will face when placing them.

Generally we are going to use a lot of user made rarity tracking guides to help place a majority of the pets.
