They are overpaying with their 2010 rare. It's up to you if you want to accept, think about weather you like the rares and C$ or your store pets more.

i had no clue about rarities, dates, lists, or december 18th back then. how much would i have to pay to get the dogtag again? (in general, not from the same person.)

The dogtag is worth 7 - 8 09 rares. It's extremely unlikely if it was a very old trade, but if they told you it was fair you may be able to get it reversed.
