Hoard Discussion Thread v.6 new poll!

So honest question, and I’m not trying to start a fight. Why do you guys hoard pets? They are all identical. What’s the appeal of having a bunch of the same exact pet? Don’t you think it’s a little selfish, especially with the super hard to come by pets(I’ve seen someone with a UR Tiger hoard)? There are people workig their tails off to get this pet and you have like 10 of them. Idk. That’s just my thoughts on it.

Hoarding is one of the few reasons I stay around to be honest. As aggravating as it can be at times. It gives me a goal/purpose, and other than hoarding the other ‘big’ goal would be getting a full collection ... and that is a goal I am never going to aim for. Demand is crazy, and I don’t really want to have to trade my souls for a pet I don’t care for , such as the sun jewel or shima long tail. I would rather have a ton of pets I really like/love (even if they are the same) than have a single of everything with many I don’t care for ‘just because’

so as somebody who would totally hoard the UR rat if i had enough fodder, or the 2013 store rat litter, here's my two cents:

reiterating what so many people have said, everyone who hoards store pets or lists or any high-demand pets work just as hard as everybody else who wants them. with regular hoards, here are the reasons i hoard:
-they just look so pretty and i want SO MANY OF THEM. kind of like rocks. i go outside and i see a pretty rock and i grab it. and then i see another pretty rock and i grab it. and then another. and soon i've got 25+ rocks in my pocket that might look almost exactly the same but there's no way i'm getting rid of them bc wow they're pretty and i love them
-rats !!!! so many people on cs don't like rats and so i collect them as a way to be like "hey. hey. these guys? they're pretty cool look @ how cute!". also trying to beat the cs world record but sh
-because getting a full collection is hard and i wanna still have motivation to be on cs <3

Ive almost hit 30 of these guys and I still havent decided my end goal I was thinking 40, but now that Im almost there maybe 50? I may decide to make them infinite, who knows. Also the fact that they dont line up really bugs me but I dont know whats causing it, the names or the amount of pets?

Also if anyone can help me think of more candy bar names for these guys Id be really gratfeul bc as I go on it just gets harder and harder to think of more names

Olive's World Famous Pizza Shack!

I've officially reached 20 of each "slice" of pizza cat! The PPS ones are rough, but I finally got my 20th! I am currently at 139 different Pizza Cats. I have been waffling back and forth on a goal for these... I'd love love love to break the record for the largest cat litter hoard, but that's a LOT more pizza cats to go. They are also my oldest hoard, so they eat through trade fodder more quickly than my other hoards. I may just pause them to focus on some other projects.

Does anyone know who it is that came up with the "hoard book" idea, where you have a bunch of 20-pet hoards in one group so each page is a new hoard? I'd love to credit them, as I'm planning on doing something similar in the future. Thanks!

My 2 cents on the "why do you hoard" thing. If it wasn't for hoarding, I would have left this site ages ago, which to me, would have been rather sad because I adore this site. I became very bored trying to JUST get a complete collection (or rather, as complete as I'd like since I can't stand spiders xD) and I realized that hey, maybe the hoarders are on to something. I used to not get it either, but turns out, they were right! Hoarding is just another fun challenge in the game, and the best part is, YOU get to make the rules! I can say a hoard is done at 5, or I can say it's done at 500, or I can say it's never done and see how far I can get! It adds some excitement back into the game; or, it did for me, anyway. There's also just some pets that you can't have just one of. Like potato chips, you can't have just one! You continuously have the temptation and the craving for more. Some of the art on this site is just insanely beautiful and appealing in my eyes and I wanna deck out my collection with them! No different than discovering a painter that you love and wanting to deck your house out in their art. I also find it satisfying to reach goals, and CS doesn't really give you any other "goal" beyond a complete collection, so to be able to make my own and to meet them, is very, very satisfying for me; especially when the pet is particularly hard to find, upping the challenge and making the satisfaction of finishing it all the greater.

Anyway...right now I'm super excited because I'm really close to finishing 2 more hoards!
"Brother Bear" only needs 1 more of the uncommon baby, and "Your Heart Is Your Masterpiece" only needs one more!!!
I've also been sooo close to finishing "Until The Very End" for months now, but still can't track down those last 3 PPS babies. Fingers crossed I find them soon!

And for commons, these babies are extremely hard to come by for some reason.

I can never find anybody with more than 1/any in their trade groups at all!
And here I was thinking this was gonna be an EASY hoard

I'm eyeing up the birthday lions, but not jumping on board yet. I wanna see all the Malks grow first, just in case I like one of them MORE than the lion. I'm hoping to walk away from the birthday with only one hoard lmao

Got another one of these beauties. I plan on creating a hoard of 21 each of this litter. I didn't think I'd include the others, but am going to. I just have no idea what to name each mini hoard group. o.O

I'm starting a hoard of these bettas, I cannot resist. I love them so much! I haven't made a group yet, right now my hoard babies are chilling in my first group (all three of them rip).

The blue friendship string item from the recent store dragons looks like catfish whiskers on the betta fish. xD
