I'll go ahead and confirm that the dress up is significant ^^

I feel like Simon was ignored so I'll try and make sense of this.
I was originally going to look for something relating to these items, but then I thought:
"What if the items are describing his pup?"
What I mean and what I think each item could represent:

Winking eye: Either or both of their eyes are closed
Brush: The pup has long/fluffy fur
White Back Mane: It's fur is fluffy/spiky
Candle: It is lightly coloured
Leg items: It has leg markings

Note* These are just what I think they could be, and is not necessarily correct/anywhere near what this dress up means, so please take this with a grain of salt.

maybe each two items refer to 1 hint? one item is a hint and the other gives something specific?

1. hair brush and back mane: the pup has long fur. that fur is on its neck and/or on its back
2. bracers and arm warmer: the pup has leg markings, those markings are stripes.
3: eye and candle: the pup has one eye closed, however the other eye is light in color / glows?

You're over thinking it, there is something simple that all of these items have in common.
