This is just a general question, but what is the comparison like between old uncommons (say '09 and '10) and recent rares (say '17 and '16)?

It's worth two mid advents plus 2 '09 rares // 14-18 2009 rares

There's a huge gap between old uncommons and recent rares. If you value a rare as four uncommons from the same year (which most people do), a '16 rare is worth a '14 uncommon while a '17 rare is worth a '15 uncommon

So technically a '12 rare is worth a '10 uncommon? That's weird, I feel like not a lot of people would actually be willing to do that.

Technically, yes. Whether they're willing to do it or not depends on them, but this is conversion is based on math. Some people tend to only see the "rare" rarity tab but not see the date. I've traded for old uncommons/recent rares with my recent rare/old uncommon fairly before

It'd be slightly unfair to the GWJ (by about a red rose). However, the GWJ has lower demand and can be difficult to trade away fairly, whereas toxics and sorbets are relatively easy to trade off fairly.

Without taking demand into account, the raven dog is a mid advent worth about 7-8 '09 rares, and the black advent is a high September list pet worth 9 mid advents, or about 63 '09 rares. However, since both dogs have high demand, they often get much more than they're actually worth. Demand is ultimately based on user opinion and varies all the time, so if you'd like an idea of what they can get due to their demand, I'd suggest looking around the CS Auctions forum, CS Trades forum, or the Rares List Swaps thread.
