also i have a question - can rares show up when there are less that a thousand pets in the pound?

They sure can! Just ask this guy I caught at around 850

It is a rather rare occurrence, but that can happen around very early times of the night~
Say 3-5am~
When the traffic on CS is very low and everyone is asleep~~

I suppose I've got to stay up late tonight, then! Lol

He was my first pound rare and I found him at 4 in the morning~~
Also, I found a LOT of rares during the event because people were so busy~
Roll over was 8 for me and the pound opens at 8 a lot, so I got some decent pets that way as well~

I remember getting a Sorbet from the pound and it was like 3 in the morning where I was, I was extremely happy, even a bit shocked.
