here's a list of tips (from personal experience) from decembuary on staying up late!!
[get snacks and water!]
tbh this one is kind of obvious - they'll keep your energy up! and you don't want to be dehydrated either trust me
i actually suggest that you drink a lot of water, because that'll usually cause you to go to the bathroom more!
by moving more you'll probably stay awake better and it's hard to fall asleep on a toilet, so (i mean i dunno what situation would cause you to fall asleep on a toilet but i don't want to know either)
[take breaks to rest your eyes!]
it's very good to take five or ten minutes very once in a while to stare at something that is not a book or screen! staring at a screen for long periods of time will hurt your eyes, which is not only uncomfortable, but makes the idea of sleeping more inviting (and we cannot have that because sleep is for the wEAK)
*however, i'd recommend you don't actually close your eyes - you may accidentally take a nap and not wake up to collect more pets. just chill out, stare at a wall, draw something, question your existence - don't close your eyes! even if your in a position where you are sure you won't fall asleep, still, i probably wouldn't do it. you might accidentally convince yourself you are tired (basically it feels so comfortable to close your eyes so you decide to sleep).
[sit in a upright position!]
highly recommend you sit in an office chair, or any chair, in a upright position and not slumping or lying down. typically if you are focused on something you won't fall asleep, but i'd still be careful! this helps me stay awake.
[do something interesting, but not tiring!]
exactly what it says. for me, if i'm doing something, i can usually focus more on that task and my sleepiness is kind of pushed aside. be careful and don't do tasks that you find tiring (whether it be mentally or physically) because you don't want to sap your energy!
[take it easy on the caffeine!]
if you are surviving through the power of caffeine and not your own will, do not chug down caffeine like your life depends on it. take a sip if you feel tired, but otherwise, keep the caffeine levels relatively low, unless you have a death wish and wanna suffer a serious crash tomorrow.
i know this from some online friends who are in college believe me on this one (i've never experienced a caffeine crash before and i don't plan to anytime soon, but trust me).
[catch a little bit of sleep during the day!]
do not try and flip your schedule around, but catching some extra sleep during the day may help you out at night! do this if you are planning to stay up late again in the future for pets/tokens (i can't cause tomorrow is sunday and the last day of my spring break pls help me).
[make up for your lack of sleep if possible!]
if you have some spare time, catch up on the missed sleep! it'll make you feel much better c:
[get a box of tissues]
you'll need it as you cry miserably about the two lists, five store pets, and eight rares you missed
*it's incredibly useful to get at least a few cause i dunno if one box can hold all of your misery
