There was at least one experienced trader who said in a previous discussion that their best chance for getting List pets was via offsite trades.

That’s probably a big red flag when it comes from an experienced trader

@darkspawn & i<3 wolves678 if every pet was easy to get, the game would be boring. i was a new player but because of dec 18th i got the chance to have list pets/trade for my pets. that’s the point of dec 18th.
you guys wanting to change the value of pets that are more valuable than regular pets is ridiculous. obviously you should have to work for omgsrs/very rare list pets. if we all got the pets we wanted as easily as we wanted, then we’d be trading commons for very rares.

@catswithsomeconk i disagree. destroying the list will make other players think that list pets are valued the same as 09 rares. while older, senior players won’t, new players will. it’s just a horrible idea to destroy the list after its been here for years and has WORKED for years

Given one or two special exceptions, these pets really aren’t worth much more than the other 09 very rares. The list has created a very false sense of value to many pets, which should never have happened to begin with.

For example, take a long look at how many omgsr pets are on the September list. People knew these pets were that valuable before the rarity change, yet they stayed there, because “rats have bad demand.”
It shows a big problem with the list. I made a post prior to this explaining the problem with demand inclusion. It’s what has been creating these false values. People obviously want to overpay more than the pets worth when trading, so when these trades are observed, the placement on the list is adjusted to whatever they’re currently being traded for, making people overpay more and creating a vicious cycle of inflation.

Also, I understand the fun of working for pets, never did I say that was bad. I just don’t think people should have to spend literal years working for them.

The problem with KEEPING the list in my opinion is that it's literally not a guide anymore. People already take it as The Word of Tess. Despite all the disclaimers that "it's a guide!!!" (Which, by the way, I took a quick look at the front page and there's no super obvious disclaimer that it's only a guide. Sorry if I might have skipped over that) People will continue to treat it like it's official if we keep it. And there shouldn't be a "guide" that dictates how the economy works. It seems fishy and like it could go wrong in lots of ways. How one "guide" managed to not only been mistaken as official but pull in the entire economy is beyond me. You literally cannot trade unless you go by the rares list, therefore, it's basically official. There may have been good intentions at the start, but it seems like it's doing more harm than good now

dark, you’re right but people choose to spend time on collecting pets if they enjoy it. i leave chickensmoothie for months at a time and come back, yet i manage to have 4 omgsrs/ other lists too.

I understand, but I’m just saying that the list values are skewed enough to cause a big problem. People save up for YEARS and then have to trade their whole collection for one pet. That’s wild and a problem.

Just to bring a different idea about the post with results, and it is just a possible idea, I'm not saying it's true, but could it be possible that instead of skewing that survey, it's possible some people who want the list or want to change it, are multiaccounting to get more votes on this poll, where it actually counts?

The reason I brought it up was because in the survey, most people were voting for retire. You would think if it's almost equal here, it would be almost the same there, which it's not.

It could be that those wanting to change just don't follow the thread or discussion, but I find it odd that seemingly one group is representing their numbers in both places, and one isn't.

Its just strange, but I'm not trying to make claims on anything.

edit: destroying list implicates that pets on the list are worth the same as pets off the list.

The assertion that people suddenly value 08 Julys the same as 09 Julys is ridiculous and based on nothing. It won't happen, that's just scaremongering.

Deleting the list doesn't imply anything other than the fact that the list is deleted and arbitrary values (eg one non being worth 3 sorbets) isn't necessarily the bible. It does not implicate all rares/very rares/omgsrs are worth the same...

I enjoy a good challenge too but its becoming increasingly difficult to even get started on collecting. I started in 2013 and got all my favorite pets by 2016. Things including both Cerbs, White Malk, Joker, ect. While also finding elusive uncommons.

It is much more difficult now. And if the list is retired, these values aren't going to disappear or change overnight. And even with the list still running the pet values have not stayed the same. Every pets value has changed over time, for better or worse.

I'd like to remind everyone that in the course of the Raven being on the list and moving ONCE from a 5'th tier to 7th tier it jumped up from being able to swap with a Target Dog to paying 1.5 Non worth. And that is with an ACTIVE thread.

You just twisted our words around completely. Never did we say these pets should be easy to get. We said it’s ridiculous that trading like this takes YEARS of your life. And if you disagree that’s fine, but not everyone spends years on a pixel pet game

I understand both side here, and both have licks of truth!

One side says that trading is all the challenge (which makes the game fun), and the other claims that trading shouldn't be so challenging that it takes years to get certain pets.

I can not emphasize this enough as the current belief system of both sides. This is the balance we need, oh, but this balance is oh so hard to maintain, let-alone achieve in the first place.

Our job here now is to find that sort of balance, and whether that fate relies on this list, or some other list, I don't mind. Both sides will have to compromise.

I've always struggled getting lists or high demand pets. I was absolutely excited when I got a coontail and medium speckled rat on December 18. However I wish I would have kept them because I've been trying to get omgsrs' for a long time. But obviously they're valued much higher than I can afford. (I traded them off)
It makes me upset that people are so rude sometimes when I make offers. I never understood the lists so I got kinda confused when I thought I was overpaying in '09-'08 rares. I have gotten some dream lists (like both mini Huskies) and I'm very proud but then I have some lists that are high up and no one wants them. Currently I have a purple toxic and it seems like it shouldn't be going as a Mainlist, it seems so common that no one wants it.
I have found the rares list very helpful and I try to go by it as much as I can, but it's frustrating when some of these pets aren't valued at their respected tier. It makes it harder to trade
