This thread isn't toxic because of the arguments (which are mostly being discussed maturely), it's toxic because of the thread frequenters try to shut down every other opinion if it isn't going their way. Just my humble opinion.

I agree. The people that do not frequent this thread should not be put below any other players priority wise, they also have opinions too even if they do not come to this thread often. The frequenters need to just let the voting happen and not complain if it does not go their way, not everyone will be happy with whatever result wins.

The retire option has brought out a lot of really emotional reactions, so many "you can't completely delete the list trading will be chaos" posts have been made. I understand that reaction for people who haven't read the thread and the nearly 100 pages of convo. For this reason, IF there is a new poll, I'd like to see this option reworded. "Focus on other community projects" was removed, but I think we do need something to suggest people aren't actually suggesting to just punt any guide and any form of a list out of existence with this vote.

I think we should also describe the difference between rebuild and retire if we run this again. I see a lot of people saying the voted rebuild because they completely want to redo the whole thing - isn't that just like retiring this thread and then creating a new, different list? This poll is about this thread and this list, and only this threads list. Completely remaking should be a vote for retire.

But the poll has a long span left. So we are getting ahead of ourselves.

I remember quite clearly once I tried to use math to show y'all how to use math to pick a middle ground option of value when a pet had quite polarizing poll options. People jumped to say that it was strict number majority only, even for something that was literally a value gradient. So that's another issue with the list. The definition of majority changes now that people are invested in something, but before math to find a compromise from poll data was a silly idea 🤔

we spent three+ weeks discussing in depth what we would put in the poll and how it would be worded. makes no sense as to why people are backtracking now. each option is self explanatory and different. merging is disagreeable as all goodness gracious. if people didn’t understand, they have come and asked. post a further clarification in the front post, don’t redo the whole poll. people have the ability to change their vote. absolutely no reason to redo when there’s a feature implimented to edit the front post with an announcement, and also the ability to edit your vote. please.

i understand that there are two differing sides with equally valid opinions here, but to suggest redoing the poll is blatantly the people who voted for option 2 being disgruntled with the fact that option 3 is currently leading; it is definitely possible that i see it that way simply because i haven’t seen an actual reason listed for why we’re redoing the poll, but i’ve looked a few pages back, and there seems to be talk of merging two poll options.

this is not a good decision. option 1 and option 2 both are in favor of keeping the list one way or another, but they have different ways of dealing with the list. option 1 and option 2 may technically be on the same side, but their specific actions afterwards are different, and deserve to be treated as such. all options should be respected and kept separate.

i want to believe in the integrity of the pollmakers, but it seems an awful lot like you simply just want to shut option 3 down, and there is no point in having a poll in the first place if not all sides are expressed fairly and equally.

There should be no repoll, that's not fair. If people change their mind, they can change their vote, there's no need to drag this out any longer. If anything, you could explain the options more in the first post, so people actually have something to reference rather than just gathering ideas from people posting.

I enjoy your fresh take on this. It seems very neutral and I appreciate that. I also appreciate you addressing concerns about mob mentality on this thread. Just beautifully stated.

It seems to me that all opinions in favor of retire are going to be shut down.

No matter what we say, a repoll is going to run because the frequents of this thread want it.

Just because we want a certain option to win doesn’t mean we are usurping the poll. We are trying to nip a sampling error in the butt before we upset more people. If there is confusion it needs to be addressed so they can vote honorably.

I’m not out here to attack the poll. I’m worried that people are not interpreting the poll options incorrectly. Do you guys want true responses to this poll at all? This is what happens when we rush polls out, mistakes happen and people get mad. We DO want the community to decide which is why we want to adjust the poll to represent them more accurately.

There has been obvious confusion about what “retire” means - some want the list entirely gone, others want THIS THREAD deleted and started elsewhere with a fresh look for a new start. It has been voiced. Those are two entirely different opinion.

Isn't there a view results button for polls anyway though? Doesn't that make that polling optioin redundant?

There has been CLEAR CONFUSION in the past few pages as to what each option actually means, as well as people in past pages being confused. ANY OTHER TIME there was a close result, there was a repoll. It's how things have been done on this thread. Regardless of what side is closer to winning, if it's this close at the end there should be a repoll. Stop accusing people of wanting a repoll because they aren't winning, when we have CLEARLY stated that isn't the case. In a COMMUNITY decision there needs to be a MAJORITY. Not a 3% difference in votes.

Same. This is everything, but not a community decision considering how the current winning option should be put down in every possible way.
I will not be posting on this here anymore, and will move on to a different thread where the majority opinion really counts.

I just feel sorry for all of the people that stopped trading just because of this list, and hope that the result of this will be something so that everyone can enjoy trading again.
